We have exciting news about our first litter dogs Bentley and Stella!🥰
-Bently is now fully trained to Law Enforcement 👮♂️ 🐕
-Stella just finished Person Borne Training. She will be paired with a K2 Handler and will be doing her first BIG JOB at the SUPER BOWL this year 🏈 💚
Our 4 current pups are heading to North Carolina in January for their evaluations!
DUK is so excited to see where this next group goes! We have such big plans for the future. ❤️

One of the easiest mistakes to make, and understandably so, is to assume that after your dog completes a board and train program that you guys are ready to rock. 😉
What’s easy to forget is that your dog has been immersed in a program with professionals, with years of experience. Professionals who’ve not only brought your dog to the amazing level they’re likely now at, but who’ve also mastered reading dogs, seeing small moments for the big ones they are, know when to reward (and how) and know when to punish (and how), who understand which human behaviors cause regression, how to effortlessly use the tools, utilize impeccable timing, share zero hesitation due to the certainty experience brings, and have mastered their emotions to ensure the best responses from dogs.
Do you see where I’m headed with this? 🙂
I haven’t even touched on dismantling the past associations your dog has with you and your environment, the lifestyle shifts (which are deeply entrenched and largely unconscious) which you’ll need to adjust or overhaul, and the mindset of being a leader...without guilt or apology or hesitation.
And as they say, many, many more.
So take it easy. You’ve got a lot of work to do. You’ve got a lot of catching up to do. And while you don’t need to become a professional dog trainer, you DO need to acquire the skills and experience which match the goals you have for you and your dog. The good news? They’ll come, but like anything worth having, they’ll take time and effort.
Be sure you don’t forget this “little piece of the training puzzle” when your newly trained dog returns home. You’re way behind the curve. And while we won’t tell your dog, you can be sure that he or she will know precisely what you do and don’t have together. ❤️

Dog trainers don’t possess any magic. What they do possess, if they’re good at their craft, is a highly developed set of skills. But remember, at one point they knew very little, and likely got into this line of work because they were struggling with their own dogs.
So what’s the difference between a skilled and knowledgeable dog trainer and a struggling owner? Yep, you guessed it, skills and knowledge.
These people that you now hire for help were once struggling much like yourself. What did they do? They developed within themselves—likely with the help of another dog trainer—what was necessary to be able to solve their problems, and now, with all that ability, they help others with theirs’.
But, and this is a big but, all they can do is help. They can share information, teach skills, coach, and root you on—but only you can put in the work to take what is being shared and make it something personal, integrated, and useful.
You don’t have to become a dog trainer, but you do have to become a skilled, and knowledgeable owner—to whatever extent needed to match your goals.
Otherwise you’ll have to settle for watching your dog “magically” excel with your trainer, and “mysteriously” deteriorate with you.
