🌱 Spotting the spring grass shooting up so quickly on my evening rounds with Millie! It’s a reminder for all of us caring for horses and ponies with Cushings or Metabolic Syndrome to be extra vigilant. This includes those horses whose status is unknown but we question due to their calorie-efficient ways 😉

It might be time to reintroduce those grazing muzzles and start limiting grass access to prevent any issues, like laminitis. If you’re unsure about your horse’s metabolic health or just need a bit more advice as we head into spring, don’t hesitate to reach out. 📞

Wishing you a safe and joyful start to the season!

Yesterday Inglemere marked its first birthday! It’s been a pretty wild ride, but also the most fun I’ve ever had doing what I do. I couldn’t be more grateful for all of the kindness, grace and support of all of the wonderful humans who trust the care of their horses to me, the colleagues and mentors who have encouraged and supported me, and to the friends and family out there cheering me on. Many thanks to all of you for supporting this 🐴 doctors first year in buisness!

The holidays are quickly approaching, and we are looking forward to some quality time with family. To ensure the well-being of all our patients during this festive season, we kindly request that you review your regular medications.

Due to reduced delivery days over the holidays and some downtime, the last day to place an order for medications before the holidays will be December 18, 2023. Following this date, orders will resume on January 2nd.

Please make sure you have an ample supply to last you through January 5th. If you find yourself running low, please inform us, and we will ensure your medications reach you before the holidays.

As usual, emergency care will be available throughout the holidays.

Thank you in advance for helping us prepare for a joyful and healthy holiday season! ✨❄️

As Inglemere got up and running this spring, I was often asked where the name Inglemere came from. Let me share the inspiration behind the name:

Inglemere is tribute to my roots, shaped by the people and places that have influenced me.

"Ingle" honours my maternal grandfather, Arthur Inglis. The Inglis side of my family has always had a deep connection with horses. From a young age, my grandfather cherished the opportunity to be around horses, even tack walking police horses in Windsor, ON as a youngster. Throughout my childhood, I was fortunate to have the unwavering support of my entire family (parents, cousins, aunts and uncles), scattered across the country, who encouraged my passion for horses. Inglewood, my aunt and cousin’s former farm in New Brunswick, left a lasting impression on me and greatly influenced my equestrian development. Grampy's support, coupled with the values he instilled in us all – hard work, integrity, mastery, and resilience – have played a vital role in bringing Inglemere Equine Veterinary Services to life.

"Mere" draws inspiration from the farm names I often encountered in the Maritimes and the UK. During my time at veterinary school in Prince Edward Island, I had the privilege of working at Woodmere Farm, a breathtaking breeding farm owned by Wally at the time and now by his son, Bruce Wood. Bruce and Wally not only employed and treated me like family for all four years I was on the Island, but also gifted me with the opportunity of getting to try procedures and treatments for the first time on their animals. Exploring the tradition of farm names, I discovered that "Mere" in Old English refers to sea or a lake and is often associated with places near bodies of water. In keeping with my intention to honor my roots and my deep affection for water, "Mere" became the perfect suffix.

Inglemere, to me, is a name that embraces my journey and all honours those who have supported my growth
