Everyone meet Blaise Flame In The Darkness aka Enya ❤️ Enya is from my topaz litter, Blaise Nelly x Kabuki Rising Sun and I am so excited to see how she develops as she grows up! I already adore her 🥰

Today is an incredibly sad day, today I said goodbye to my foundation buck Halcyon King Theodore (Teddy) at 2 years and 8 months his body was failing him and I helped him to cross the rainbow bridge. I will forever be grateful for what Teddy has given me in my breeding journey and to Lisa and Anastazia for trusting me with Teddy and Missy ❤️ Teddy was an incredibly special boy and just so smooshy and I see so much of him in his offspring and that make me so happy that his memory will continue to live on in my line.

I also lost Alexis a week ago, she’d never been right since reabsorbing her litter and I was convinced she had something neurological going on. The heat hit and she took a turn for the worst so it was time to say goodbye to her as well.

It’s been a difficult couple of weeks here but the babies are keeping me going ❤️

Today we went to the show in Collingwood, it was a very last minute, if not forced by certain people, decision to go so I only took a couple of the rats. I was told I had to take a marked rex and to win the marked rex rosette, not sure how I could make that happen but we did (I had my suspicions of what was going on anyway haha). The lovely AJ over at had sponsored the marked rex rosette in memory of Blaise Pickle who I lost last week very suddenly. I honestly have the bestest friends and I love them so much!

Blaise Nelly and Kabuki Rising Sun welcomed 7 healthy babies into the world today!

My topaz journey isn’t over just yet, after much deliberation I decided to carry on with my topaz line with the help of Kabuki Rats. This will be a side project for now as I carry on with working my badger line to get them to the point I’m happy with and then I’ll go from there. I’ve been incredibly excited for this litter and I’m so excited to see how these babies turn out. All babies are doing well and Nelly is being a perfect mum ❤️

Hi everyone, I just wanted to give a quick update on the admin side of things here at Blaise Rattery.

I have made the decision to do away with the standard waiting list and have created a Facebook group where I will post updates on my litters and what kittens I have available. This means homes will be allocated for those that express interest on the posts, along with some exceptions such as pre-arranged or lone rats etc. This group will only be for past, present and future pre-approved (subject to an application form) Blaise owners. This group can be found on Facebook under Blaise Rats Owners, if you would like the link please message me but you should also be able to find it with a search on Facebook.

I have also made the tough decision to increase my prices from £25 per kitten to £30. Over the last year the price increase in food has become a little bit ridiculous and to save myself cutting corners (which I would never do anyway) I felt the only fair way to make this better on myself is to raise the price of the kittens. Please bear in mind that this doesn’t mean I am now making profits on my rats, I will still be at a lost from raising kittens it’s just to cover the increasing costs of everything else!

Lastly just a PSA to future applicants, please don’t lie on your form. These kittens you will be receiving are my babies and I put so much love and care into them I want them to go to the best homes possible and to find I’ve been lied to is incredibly disheartening. All I have to go off on the application forms is trust and the more people I find out have lied the less I trust future homes that are genuinely being truthful and I’m sat here questioning their application form. I don’t want that so please don’t lie on your forms, I’d rather people were honest and ask questions as I am more than happy to help educate people into getting the right care for their new babies and giving them the best start!

Welcome to the world litter number 2 🥰 Blaise Betty and Blaise Kingsman welcomed 11 babies in the early hours of this morning, unfortunately we lost 2 during the day taking Betty’s total down to 9. Polly has also lost 2 during today as well which takes her total down to 12. This is an unfortunate side to breeding that is breeders have to deal with for most litters and it just goes to show we have no control over what we’re dealt with breeding. Betty and her remaining babies are doing well and Betty is being a wonderful mum ❤️

Welcome to the world little ones 🥰 Blaise Polly and Blaise Kingsman welcomed 17 beans earlier today, unfortunately 3 were still born leaving 14 live babies. There are 6 red eyed babies which is very exciting and I’m hopefully expecting some dumbo in this litter as well and marked! I’m really excited for the litter and can’t wait to see what there is! Polly is being an amazing mum already and I’m so proud of her 🥰

Today we were at the NFRS Yelvertoft show which included the marked show. I was also the pet judge today so was a good day all round, I will apologise if any of the crits don’t make sense as I only got back yesterday from Cornwall celebrating my best friend getting married so my head is still there 😂

I've started sending out allocations but we've had an emergency on top of everything else, so please bear with me and excuse the pants photos. There are still 2 does available.

I decided not to keep any kittens from Faron's litter as Faron's milk production wasn't great. Faron's mum, Essa, also didn't have the best milk (so something I knew to keep an eye on) but Faron's is a bit worse. Cricket and Midna, also Essa's daughters, have been fine, so I'm just trying to avoid it becoming a pattern. There are some lovely solid kittens in Faron's litter, though, so a couple of them will be going to people who would like to get into showing.

Mipha's litter was easy when it came to keepers as Groose was always going to stand out, and Ruto (the RBA mismarked badger) was 1 of 3 does in the litter. There's 1 other buck who is going to someone I know as a potential back up.

I have 2 bucks and 3 does from Cricket's litter who are pretty much even on balance, so I'm running them on until after my wedding then making final decisions. I want to see how they develop and assess for chopped rumps (you can't really assess for it at 5 weeks) before making a final decision given how close things are.

The beans are all doing well and eating for the nation! The windows are being redone (yeah, it's all happening here) so they've also had a lot of noise desensitisation 😆

I'm sending out my EOI earlier than I planned to arrange homes for about 2/3s if the kittens by the end of the month. Please just bear in mind that this is a very busy time for me and I will do my best.

I've just sent info on the available kittens via email to people who are on my mailing list. I have too many people to message individually, so if you’ve filled in a homing form, didn't want to be contacted by email and are interested, please message me. If you’ve not yet sent me a set-up photo and/or made any changes that I’ve requested, please send these through at the time of enquiring.

Please remember that expressing interest unfortunately does not mean that you will definitely have kittens allocated to you. If you are a new owner, being open to either s*x may help. Please also remember that if you do not send me a set-up photo or make any of the requested changes (if any), kittens won’t be allocated to you.

Collection would be from 09/06/2024, so please keep this in mind when enquiring!

Happy 1st birthday to Blaze’s first litter and to Fozzie, Burt, Rizzo and Alexis 🥰 they’ve been the bestest beans and have made me so proud. Alexis has given me 2 wonderful babies who will go on to produce the next generation of Blaise babies in the future. Fozzie has already sired one litter and hopefully a few more to come, he gained platinum champion status this weekend just gone and gave me my stud name along with Bert who is a silver champion. Last but not least Rizzo is just an all round wonderful pet and he just completes the boys group and is always there wanting attention as soon as the cage is open 🥰

So much for my not showing for a little while 😂 today we went to the NFRS Swinford show, mainly to take Fozzie after I angry burst his abscess after the spring cup 🙈 the baby boys also came with us for another day out, Sprout seems to be a firm favourite with a lot of people 😂

Blaise Pickle won best pet today, he’s an absolute moron and I think that’s why he won 👀😂

I can’t believe the babies are already 5 weeks old! The 2 in the first picture are from Alexis’ litter, Opi has done a fantastic job raising them as her own! Considering just under 5 weeks ago I was panicking they were going to make it because Alexis’ milk had dried up I am so pleased they’re still with us! The little Russian topaz is from Alexis is definitely staying as he’s already been named Sprout aka Blaise Sir Blossom II. The rest of the babies are Opi’s brood and they’re all little stinkers and I love them!

Very last picture is of the constant stink eye I get from Sprout 😂

Yesterday we went to our last show for a little while at show. The only rosette I wanted purely because of its colour was best shaded and my little Arrietty did me proud and won! Apparently no one except Porco wanted to take a nice picture so we’re working with what we’ve got 😂

It was really lovely to see everyone again and Elvis and Fozzie loved all their cuddles and loves!

I see no difference 🤷‍♀️

On the right we have Blossom who came to me at the end of last year as a dumped rat. She would constantly plot my ending for just looking after her wounds. We unfortunately lost her due to a stroke about a month after she came to us.

On the left we have Blossom reincarnated as a Russian topaz rex buck (Blaise Alexis’ baby boy).

I knew Blossom would find a way to haunt me forever!

Nothing major to report from the NFRS Spring Cup show yesterday, Fozzie is still currently out of action due to a stubborn abscess and the kittens are now in adult so won’t do drastically well being judged to the adult standard. But the star of the show was my little Sprout, I took the baby boys with me yesterday for an outing and everyone Sprout met he just melted for.
