Some great advice:

As a dog trainer (Rehabilitation of behaviour issues) I find it really upsetting to see owners saying "last year she was so terrified of the fireworks so this year I'm trying... .
Please all of you be aware that you can help your dog properly by desensitisation.
Do you know that when you sedate your dog all you're doing is making them unable to react...they are still petrified. It's easier for you but the dog is still going through hell. (I personally have no idea why anyone would even consider sedating their dog!)
So how do you desensitise?....
Find videos of fireworks. Have your dog sitting next to you. On a leash if need be.
Have the volume low to start.
Each time a firework goes off say "Yes!" In a happy excited manner..then instantly treat your dog.
Repeat this while building the volume up slowly and eventually to max.
As fireworks are generally at night, practice this after dark.
If you practice this regularly , by the time the next lot of fireworks are due you will have a much more relaxed pup.
When you get a new puppy, start immediately to prevent fear from ever happening.
You can use this same method for storms as well as a number of other things that frighten your pup.
Frightened of noise buses, lorries etc... find somewhere where you can sit and view the vehicles from a distance. As the vehicle drives by mark with the "Yes" and treat. As your pup relaxes, practice this closer to the noisey vehicles
When outside ALWAYS make sure your dog cannot slip out of their leash... which can be easy especially with harnesses and loose fitting collars.
It's really simple folks... please take the time to practice this and give your dog the help they deserve ❤🐕
