Max is the sweet boy of Finley (Finley’s story was shared last week). He was born on February 26, 2025 at the Franklin County Dog Shelter. He was in danger of euthanasia along with his sister, Lucy and his Mom, Finley before he was rescued by PetPromise He is still a baby but is a little love. He is very gentle and a little shy. He makes little puppy sounds and is the biggest of the two puppies (we have no idea how big he’ll be yet but his Momma (Finley) is 18 lbs.

This little guy will be ready at about 8 weeks old (around the end of April) to go to a foster to adopt home (you can foster him for PetPromise until he is neutered after 10-12 weeks) Watch for update about this little guy as he grows and we get to see more of his sweet personality. In the meantime if you just know that he is the one for you, please complete an on-line Adoption Application today to be ready to take this little cuddle bug home as soon as he is ready.

Sweet little Finley is a small 18lb girl who was found running in a neighborhood very scared and very very pregnant.  They took her to Franklin County where she went into labor the next day.  She gave birth to two puppies and then things turned deadly.  Finley began to struggle and she had to be rushed in for an emergency c-section.  The staff veterinarian was able to save Finley, but the three remaining unborn puppies were stillborn.  This tiny 18 lb dog was carrying 5 puppies that together probably weighed as much as she did.

She was in the shelter and her hold time had run out...and her owners never came to pick her up.  She was a loving Mother to the little puppies that were the only things that she had to cling to in the shelter and her time was running out.  At the last minute we had a wonderful foster step up to foster her and PetPromise pulled Finley (originally called Havana) and her two 2-day old babies...and they were on the road to Freedom that night.

Since then, Finley has been the best little Mom.  She was extremely thin and malnourished (having given every ounce of herself to her puppies).  She was quiet and shy at first in yet another new place....things are scary for this poor girl that went from being on her own trying to survive, to almost dying and in a shelter  and now in a new place with lots of people and other pets, and two new babies to care for.

She is a sweet girl and she is starting to trust again.  We will update on her little personality as her puppies grow and she becomes more comfortable in her foster home.  Relax sweet Finley...you are safe now.  We PROMISE!

If you would like to be considered to adopt this precious soul when she is ready and the puppies are weaned, please complete an on-line Adoption Application (https://www.jotform.com/form/223107373504044)

Sweet Noah has had a horrible life and he is the sweetest boy. He once must have had a loving indoor home because he sat at the windows of homes in the small town outside Dayton…longingly looking in and begging with little paws on the windows to be let in.

The residents in the town put food out for him but there were many outdoor kitties in the area…so many thought he had a home somewhere. Then one day two unleashed large dogs rushed into the yard where Noah was sitting and broke into the fenced area where he ran for cover. A neighbor came out screaming when she saw the two dogs viscously attacking Noah and she rushed to his rescue.

Noah was barely alive when he was rushed to the vet. He almost lost an eye and went through a long recovery period where even the vet wasn’t sure he would make it. But the sweet strong loving boy lifted his little head one day and head bumped the neighbor that rescued him when she visited and they all knew he was fighting hard to stay alive.

He recovered…and during his recovery it was discovered that he had FIV. While cats with FIV can live long healthy lives, it is an immuno-deficiency disease that means that viruses that other cats can quickly overcome can be deadly to him. And while FIV is not easy to pass to other cats (it requires a bite wound to transfer to another cat) being around healthy cats that carry even minor viruses or being in a home where there is a lot of change or stress can cause the FIV to become full blown FIV.

But his story doesnt end there. In addition to all of this, he needed very specialized surgery on his eyes as after the attack in his face, his eyes healed causing scaring and malformation making it painful to open his eyes all of the way. Thanks to a very skilled ophthalmologist at MedVet along with an outpouring of donations from people that wanted to help save his eyes, Noah came through a very difficult surgery and is comfortable and so much happier to be able to open his eyes and see without pain!

Could you give this sweet boy…a boy who loves everyone but who has had a horrible life so far…a home where he can be loved and protected? If you can give him a chance to have happiness for the rest of his sweet life, please complete an Adoption Application (https://www.jotform.com/form/223107373504044)

Tessa and her husband adopted baby Maya from PetPromise in 2016 and “failed foster” with Hera in 2020. She is an animal lover and has volunteered at the PetPromise Run several times. So, when the opportunity arose to do more by volunteering at Blue Jackets games, she thought that would be a fun way to raise money and continue supporting PetPromise. She has been or faithful volunteer…showing up and working at the concession stands…and raising money for PetPromise. She works as an RN and loves kayaking, hiking, traveling, and anything outdoors. She is grateful to have the time to support this organization.

Thanks for all that you do for PetPromise, Tessa! We appreciate you so much!!!!

Goldie Girl is the darling of our program. She was found wandering down the street in a neighborhood. She was lost, scared. Her little tail was tucked between her legs, her little paws were raw from walking and looking for her owners who drove away after removing her collar. Goldie was seen walking up and down the streets for several days...looking, walking, running to each person that she saw until she realized it wasn’t who she was looking for. Finally, a kind neighbor went out to her, and talked to her quietly and told her that everything would be okay. And she said that Goldie looked at her...really looked at her....and she untucked her tail and she wagged it just a little bit.

For the first few days, Goldie sat by the door, watching and waiting for her owner to return. It was heartbreaking. But as time went on, she started to play and follow the other dogs in the home around. And even though the sadness was still there, in her eyes sometimes and when she saw someone come to the door, we saw her true self start to shine through.

Goldie loves other dogs. She is sweet and loves them all. She is even good with cats. She is just a sweet girl. She has learned to “sit”, is mastering potty training, and is learning to go into a crate and not be sad. But most of all, she is a cuddler. She wants to cuddle all of the time....she wants to be right next to her people...probably so they don’t leave her again. She is learning to be carefree and happy again and she LOVES to play and run and jump. She is finally feeling happy...and Goldie will make a sweet addition and best friend for someone.

But we ask that if you adopt her and promise to be her person that you promise to be her person forever. Goldie’s heart would be broken if this happens to her again. So if you can open your home and your heart to Goldie for the rest of her life, please complete an on-line Adoption Application at https://www.jotform.com/form/223107373504044 and meet the best little girl who will make you finally understand what it means to be unconditionally loved!

Pixie was a sweet little kitten whose mother died. She was raised by a PetPromise foster and adopted by a family when she was just a baby. She was so happy in her home...she loved her family, she loved being the center of their world. They had children and she loved the children. They dressed her up and carried her around and she was so happy. Everything was great.

Then, a stray cat showed up one winter night and the family couldn’t leave him outside and thought that Pixie would like to have some company anyway. As the days turned into months, things did not go well. Pixie was not happy with this new intruder into her happy life. She did not like this cat and she made that very clear. She still loved her family very much, but she screamed at the other cat and swatted him and refused to tolerate him in her house. She got moody and hid and was upset by everything that happened in her life. She became so stressed that she stopped eating and hid under the bed most of the time.

We were called by her adopters and agreed to take her back. She was dehydrated and had a uri...and was overweight. Since she has been in her foster home...she has been so happy. She is the only cat and loves her fosters. It took her a couple days to realize she was safe but as soon as she did, she was on her fosters’ laps, kneading away...letting them know she loved them.

Pixie is out and about, playful, loving and cannot wait to see her fosters walk in the door when they get home from work. She is the sweet girl that she was before. She would love to have a home again where she can be the only cat. Where someone will love her forever not matter what. She would obviously do best in a home without other cats. If you think you can give sweet Pixie a second chance at a happy life, please complete and Adoption Application at: https://www.jotform.com/form/223107373504044
