October is Pitbull Awareness Month.

This month is important to us. It's a Pittie Rescue is dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming Pitbulls.

A breed that is always under the microscope and scrutinized, judged, labeled, simply by how they look. It is an extreme job we must have as pitbulls owners and advocates to set an example and show the world what kind of dogs they really are. They are smart, loyal, obedient, driven, silly, cuddly, bed hogs, zoomie running, big heads to match their big hearts, amazing breed. How lucky are we to have been able to play apart in so many amazing pittie lives. ❤

Today’s volunteer shift consisted of belly rubs for Girlie while she snores away. Girlie is a 7 year old sweetie, whose super friendly, low energy and great on leash. She’s looking for a furever home 💕

If you’re wondering how you can help, give to your local shelter. We love OTAT, but pick one dear to your heart. Summer is so hard on shelters and all the animals that deserve a forever home.

Today we said no.

We said it over and over again. To desperate shelter workers trying to make space for the animals coming in. To families making the impossible decision to give up their pet. To strays that couldn't find their way home. To big dogs, to sick puppies, to little kittens, to senior cats, to injured animals, to rabbits being sent to slaughter. We said no again and again and again.

We are tired, we are sad, we are beaten up and we are sometimes not sure we can keep going like this.

But we do. We pick ourselves and each other up and we keep marching forward and forward and forward. Because if we don't, who will?
