y. Advice and information here is to help you choose an Australian National Kennel Council registered breeder and puppy to suit your family, lifestyle and pocket. Australian National Kennel Council (Dogs NSW) affiliated breeders are bound by a Code of Ethics and other regulations to ensure puppies are bred using good pure bred animals and are raised according to accepted (and government legislated) practises. Dogs NSW breeders and those in other states are not allowed to breed cross bred or unregistered puppies. The Dogs NSW website (and those of the other state bodies) have lots of information about breeds, buying puppies and breeders to help you make an informed decision on choosing a reputable breeder. Just open the website in your state and follow the links to the information you need. And if you need to know more about Old English Sheepdogs and breeders, you may find answers here – or just ask a question and we’ll try to answer it for you. The risk of getting a puppy which is not all it seems, or doesn’t exist, the buyer paying more than they should, or losing money is something buyers need to be aware of. There are laws which buyers and all sellers need to conform to. We aim on this page to give you information from government and other organisations which puppy buyers can access to fully understand what should be expected when buying an Old English Sheepdog puppy. It is our recommendation that Old English Sheepdog breeders are members of Australia’s official and government recommended Australian National Kennel Council (through the associated state bodies). The Australian National Kennel Council only registers pure bred puppies of recognised breeds. The organisation’s state bodies hold records of dogs, their breeders and owners. They hold official pedigrees and health records of breeds which undergo health testing. A puppy’s background is traceable and the Australian National Kennel Council liaises with government departments etc. to acquire suitable outcomes for pure bred dogs and breeders throughout the country. Under the Australian National Kennel Council rules puppies from alternative registers are unable to be shown or bred from but can, once the owner joins the state body, compete in Dog Sports.
