I can’t keep my dog because….
We just don’t have time for them.
We have to move.
We just had a new baby.
We don’t have a big enough home.
The kids don’t help anymore.
The kids are allergic.
The dog is too hyper.
The dog is too lazy.
The dog is having trouble housetraining.
The dog got too big.
The dog escapes out of our yard.

EXCUSES. All of them. If your pet means enough to you, you will find a way.
if the Ukrainians can do it, so can you.

Pray for the people and animals in the Ukraine.

UPDATE: Thank you to my dear friend, Svetlana for her hard work. Arrangements were made as follows:

UPD 3/03 !!! At the moment, we bought food in the amount of 36 bags for breeders in Kharkov and provided food for about 40 dogs!!!! 30 bags to Odessa and provided food for 27 dogs!!!! Now more than 80 bags are reserved in Kyiv!!! Many thanks to the coordinating center Ирина Миленко for their help at all stages of this action. We collect help from all over the world, and Irina provide the whole process from start to finish inside Ukraine.

Sadly, many of our friends are fleeing now as the situation has become dire.

Of great concern is Elena as she is unable to leave with her children and dogs. She is in close proximity to explosions and gunfire and the battles are escalating. She has run out of puppy food but has a freezer with a good amount of raw food. Puppies now will eat raw.
At this moment they are ok. I pray that doesn't change.
This is a moral catastrophe and a humanitarian crisis of which none of us could have ever imagined and all because of the psychopathic, evil greed and lust for power of one man. There is NOTHING that can begin to justify this attack on our entire free world.
We each must do whatever we can to counterbalance this madness. Be aware of what is important. Don't sweat things that, in the big picture, do not matter. Be EXTRA kind to those around you. Pick one thing each day to do that will brighten someone's heart.
Say I love you. Hug someone. Let your dog lick your face! Pray for Ukraine.
We will continue our work and will allocate money in ways that will most benefit Ukranian Bernese families.
We are open to suggestions and ideas.
Thank you for being so generous, I am appreciative to each and every one of you.
My heart is with Ukraine.
Updates to follow.

UPDATE: We were able to purchase $1100 worth of dog food to be provided to Odessa, Ukraine. We are working hard to make arrangements for the war torn Kiev area, but the danger is too great at this time.

My heartfelt appreciation and respect to F.C.I. for taking a stand against the invasion of Ukraine!

The FCI and its General Committee officially condemn the invasion of Ukraine by the armed forces of the Russian Federation. This conflict and aggression cannot leave anybody indifferent and we all feel concerned, sad and angry.

The invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Army has also put entire families of our dog community in complete distress. This war has placed our breeders and their dogs at great risk, directly threatening their welfare and their lives. Many had to flee, others are surviving in precarious conditions, hiding in shelters where food and basic commodities are becoming very scarce. Yet, in these terrible and trying times, they did not abandon their dogs!

These horrifying circumstances contradict the written priorities and welfare recommendations of the FCI, as well as our policy and aims.

The situation has led the FCI General Committee to hold an extraordinary meeting on Sunday, 27 February 2022. Important decisions were made, within the legal limits of the FCI and its General Committee, based on the FCI Statutes and Standing Orders.

From the 1st March 2022, and until further notice, the Russian Kynological Federation (RKF) will not be allowed to conduct - on the Russian Territory - any event wherein FCI titles or prizes are awarded (CACIB shows, CACIT trials, CACIAG competitions, etc.)

In order to give the opportunity to our Members/Contract Partners and any other persons to express their solidarity and help towards the Ukrainian people, their dog lovers/breeders/keepers, the FCI will open a bank account, specially for this purpose, where all donations are welcome and will be forwarded, with full transparency, to help the Ukrainian Kennel Union (UKU) and the Ukrainian breeders badly affected by the war and in serious need, living either in Ukraine or having fled to neighbouring countries.

The FCI will contribute to this fund in a substantial manner. Further details will be communicated in the following days.

The FCI is a huge community, a united and strong family so let us all stand up and show our solidarity for Ukraine!

The FCI General Committee members,

Dr T. Jakkel, FCI President
G. Jipping, FCI Vice-President
B. Müller, FCI Treasurer
M.A. Martinez
R. de Santiago
C. Molinari
J. Hindse, President of the FCI Europe Section
JL. Payro, President of the FCI Americas and Carribean Section
D. Santos, President of the FCI Asia, Africa and Oceania Section
Y. de Clercq, FCI Executive Director

Ukranian Roads are now closed. Contacts west of Kyiv are experiencing bombing and Russian tanks close to home. At this time it is not possible for these BMD families to leave.

If these videos don't put a chill in your heart, nothing will. To see one of our beloved Bernese in a war zone is something none of us could ever fathom. Bombs in the distance, fires....and the terror of not knowing if the next bomb will hit home.

IMAGINE LIVING THIS....THE TERROR IS PALPABLE.

Message this a.m.
We are under threat. Fierce battles were fought all night, and now they are shooting, explosions. Putin is angry that he is defeated, the blows are intensifying. We need to survive this night and do not know what will happen tomorrow. The children are tired, scared and crying. Dogs under stress ..it's a real hell 😭😭😭
Pray God about us About Ukraine 🇺🇦❤️🙏😭
Love you my mom Jo ❤️🙏

Welcome Bernese lovers around the world! This page was started to fundraise for our fellow BMD friends in Ukraine who are experiencing unprecedented and tragic hardships. We are in our infancy stage but are busy creating ways to support those in Ukraine who may needs supplies, food or money to care for their Bernese during the recent unprovoked and barbaric attack on their homeland by Putin. We are committed to do whatever we can to help get through this bad time. Any and all suggestions are welcome. Please donate generously so we can provide maximum relief to our friends.
