Farm Updates!
-FFA Beef and Pork Project Opportunities
Boys are raising pigs and cattle for the CVLS show in May and will be processing directly following. Let us know if you have interest in a share of these projects.
-Spring is on the horizon! We will have nice piglets born, several of these will be show quality and of course plenty of feeders.
-Our first registered calves will be hitting this ground in April, and we couldn’t be more excited!
-We will have 2 foals this year! Should be colorful and athletic and registered with the AQHA 😍

Winter a.k.a the muddy season ☔️ has arrived here on the farm! The last beef of 2024 has been processed; we are looking forward to a slower couple weeks, as we celebrate the birth of our Lord by spending time with our family, friends, and critters.

Be on the lookout for beef shares available later this winter or early Spring!

Boys will also have FFA project steers available in May 🥩

🐽 Pork is always available by the share or pack!

Fall 🍂 is in all its glory here on the farm! That means calving season for our commercial herd. We're a little over half way done welcoming this years crop. They're all adorable and better still, healthy. With the boys becoming more and more involved, it also means musicals, sports camps, and our favorite FFA 💙 💛

Beef 🥩 shares have been a hit, and we are sooo thankful for the support. Our USDA pork 🐖 is starting to gain in popularity, and we are excited to fill our freezer again to offer you homegrown, know what you eat options! Also exciting was the arrival of chestnuts. This means chestnut finished pork in December/January 😋

Thank you all again for tuning in, loving our pictures, and supporting our dream!

We do it for us and we do it for you! 💚 Busy B Farm

They ran to the groceries, they filled up their carts,
They emptied the Tops and Price Chopper and Walmart,
They panicked and fought and then panicked some more,
Then they rushed to their homes and they locked all the doors.
The food will be gone! The milk eggs and cheese!
The yogurt! The apples! The green beans and peas!
The stores have run out, now what will we do?
They’ll be starving and looting and nothing to do!
Then they paused, and they listened a moment or two.
And they did hear a sound, rising over the fear,
It started out far, then began to grow near.
But this sound wasn’t sad, nor was it new,
The farms were still doing what farms always do.
The food was still coming, though they’d emptied the shelves,
The farms kept it coming, though they struggled themselves,
Though the cities had forgotten from where their food came,
The farms made them food every day, just the same.
Through weather and critics and markets that fall,
The farms kept on farming in spite of it all.
They farmed without thank yous.
They farmed without praise.
They farmed on the hottest and coldest of days.
They’d bought all the food, yet the next day came more,
And the people thought of something they hadn’t before.
Maybe food, they thought, doesn’t come from a store.
Maybe farmers, perhaps, mean a little bit more. ❤️

It was easy to get outside this morning for chores with that crisp Fall feeling in the air!

We are busy as always! Saving hay, growing turkeys, and counting the days until our first 2024 calf arrives!

We were thankful to see the rain yesterday! I'm normally a sunshine fan, but even I am glad to see clouds and rain drops.

Buzzworthy 🐝 helped me take pictures of an old saddle I pulled out, hoping to find it a more useful home. I love his curious nature!

The 🦃 turkeys are growing! I fear they'll soon eat us out of house and farm. Future plans for them include a large volume water solution and a processing plan.

We are making plans to pull the honey off the bee hives! The hives will then be moved to a local pumpkin patch to boost their productivity. 🎃

We finished the day with a drive through some of the land we cut for hay. We saw very few weeds 👍🏼 and a HUGE coyote. It was fascinating that he sat, then laid down to watch us.

As always, we are busy, but it's exciting and fulfilling work! Farm living is THE Life 💚
