Lassie - Animal Actor 🎥

Lassie (the first) who's real name was Pal, was trained by animal breeder Rudd Weatherwax. He obtained Pal from a friend as an owed debt. Pal went onto appear as Lassie in the film "Lassie Come Home" in 1943, and the television series, "Lassie" ran from 1954 to 1974. In all there have been 9 Lassies, in over 50 years, all from the same family. 💞

In the past, experts believed that cats were not susceptible to leptospirosis infection, but it has been demonstrated that cats do get infected and are capable of developing antibodies.

Feline leptospirosis was first described in 1972; however, reports of clinical disease in pet cats have always been rare. The infection has been associated with the consumption of infected prey, with outdoor cats being at increased risk of infection.

Some cats with antibodies against Leptospira species have been found to have signs associated with kidney disease and/or histopathological evidence of kidney inflammation. Through PCR, several studies have shown renal carriage of Leptospira species (with an epidemiological study confirming the presence of Leptospira DNA in the urine of cats for more than 8 months after infection). Therefore, cats can be chronic reservoir hosts for the bacteria and a possible risk factor for infection for other mammalian species.

The pathogenesis of leptospirosis in cats remains unknown, although it is assumed to be similar to that in humans and dogs. The best treatment for cats is undefined, with specific and supportive therapeutic recommendations extrapolated only from dogs.

The main serovars belong to serogroups Australis, Autumnalis, Canicola and Sejroe, although there are geographical variations.

WORLD'S OLDEST DOG TURNS 31 🐶🎂

The world's oldest dog recently celebrated his 31st birthday, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Bobi, a purebred Rafeiro do Alentejo, a breed of Portuguese dog, celebrated during a party Saturday at his home in the rural Portuguese village of Conqueiros, where has lived his entire life. More than 100 people attended the “very traditional” Portuguese party, owner Leonel Costa said.

Costa has owned several old-aged dogs in the past, including Bobi’s mother, Gira, who lived to the age of 18. However, Costa said he never imagined any of his dogs would reach their 30s.

Now in his senior years, Bobi finds it difficult to walk, so he prefers to hang out at home in the yard. His eyesight has gotten worse, meaning he often bumps into things when he walks. Just like old-aged humans, Bobi sleeps a lot. He immediately lies down in bed after eating, although on cold days he chooses to nap by the fire, his owner said.

Bobi’s birth date has been confirmed by Serviço Medico-Veterinário do Município de Leiria (Veterinary Medical Service of the Municipality of Leiria), which registered Bobi in 1992.

His age also has been verified by SIAC, a pet database authorized by the Portuguese government and managed by the SNMV (Sindicato Nacional dos Médicos Veterinários; National Union of Veterinarians). | via Associated Press
