Time to get them gun dogs out and dust the cobwebs off before hunting season!

Join us for a simulated duck hunt/training day on the 23rd of this month.

All breeds and skill levels welcome! Spots are very limited, so let me know if you’d like to join in on the fun! 🦆

Getting creative in the yard and running some simple No-No drills. Teaching the dog to go where sent, and not say “no” to pushing through cover, over the obstacle and so on. We will bring this out to the field at a larger scale, but this is a great way to introduce the concept.

Chose to simplify and make things as black and white as possible!

Two things we focus on with our puppies: socialization and bird exposure.

I’ve been able to meet lots of great people in the dog world whether it be through training, selling puppies, hunting or hunt tests. But there is something special about finding two of your cousins their forever companion and future duck/pheasant getters!

We are less than 3 months out from hunting season in the Midwest- don’t be the fella that improperly introduced his dog to gunfire.

We are now taking Bird & Gun Intro dogs starting in August! This program increases bird drive, teaches dogs to quarter and flush, and properly exposes your dog to gunfire.

We’ve been quiet on here, but staying busy in the field!

Drake picked up his first Junior pass at the NW Iowa Retriever Club in Hartford, SD and is hoping to add two more in a couple weeks at the SMHRA test!

Denace also picked up a pass at the NWIARC and has gone 3/3 in his hunt test carreer. He is looking to complete his JH title this month!

Max will be running alongside Drake in his first JH test at SMHRA as well!

Rye the Golden will be making his JH debut in August sometime!

Millie is in transition level work right now and will be running Senior’s hopefully in August as well!

Hank graduated our Gun Dog Program with flying colors. He will compete in JH tests this year and also be a hammer in the field this fall!

Goose also graduated our Gun Dog Program with ease. Fun fact about Goose- he couldn’t swim before he got here! His owners now have a tough time getting him out of the water!

Glad I get to work with these dogs every day 🦆 🐶

Towards the end of our Gun Dog Program, we teach our dogs to “hunt ‘em up” by using the scent cone to their advantage. Often times we will plant live/dead birds upwind in tall cover to encourage them to use their nose, get on the scent and successfully flush, point or retrieve their bird.

This is Hank. He has completed our Gun Dog Program and is now ready to sit steady in the marsh on a morning duck hunt, then go flush pheasants in the upland afterwards!
