This project was personal. ⬇️
A fellow flower farmer reached out to me to design a wall for the bronchiectasis educational center at the American Thoracic Society 2024 Conference in San Diego. I was thrilled to be a part of this because I am a bronchiectasis patient! I’ve been living with this progressive lung disease since 2016.
Bronchiectasis is a permanent dilation or damage of the airways making it difficult to clear mucus and can easily become infected. In order to stay healthy, I have to take a lot of precautions to ensure my lungs stay as healthy as possible. Ironically, I work in dirt and water daily, the 2 elements that can cause me the most problems. So if you see me in a mask, that’s why. 😷
Making people smile, with the flowers I grow, fulfills my heart and supports our family. I may have to change my journey one day but for now, I will do the hard work so that I can keep doing what I love. ❤️ 🥰💐

Building a bridal bouquet in the field…Perfect for Eqrth Day, which is every day for us!
What are the benefits when choosing locally grown flowers for your wedding, event or special occasion?
1. **Environmental Impact**: Locally grown flowers have a lower carbon footprint as they don’t have to be transported long distances. This reduces the impact on the environment by decreasing greenhouse gas emissions from transportation.
2. **Supporting Local Economy**: By opting for locally grown flowers, couples support local flower farmers and the community’s economy. This helps in promoting local businesses and sustainable agriculture practices.
3. **Freshness and Quality**: Locally grown flowers are often fresher and of higher quality compared to imported flowers. They are harvested closer to the event date, ensuring they look vibrant and last longer for the wedding day.
4. **Seasonal Variety**: Local flowers are often seasonal, offering a unique and diverse range of blooms that reflect the natural beauty of the region. Couples can explore a wider variety of flowers and colors that are in season for their wedding date.
5. **Sustainability**: Choosing locally grown flowers promotes sustainable floristry practices. It reduces the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides, supports biodiversity, and encourages responsible water management in flower cultivation.
We all have a choice to make, each and every day. We choose to grow beautiful flowers in a responsible way for our community. Join us in our commitment to do better.
