Sweet Rosie (from our first litter) is having a great summer. It helps that she gets to spend lots of time at the lake and doesn’t live in Texas. We know we have pups all over the US, so not all are experiencing the heat we are in Texas. How is everyone staying cool and making the most of their summers?

Our Ms Delta is two time a winner! After all the puppies she’s had in two litters she come out to do what she does best give load of tender loving love to all she encounters ❤️🐾❤️! She has been a wonderful Mother and now a Thearpy Dog again with my daughter Kelli! So lol we lovingly say twice tested she’s earned her Masters Degree!!! So very proud of Kelli for taking over where I couldn’t anymore and giving Ms Delta the opportunity to do her best!❤️🐾❤️🐾

It’s feeding time. We are learning to eat on our own. Right now we are eating formula with soft food. We will slowly lessen the formula to transition to solid food. They are still nursing, this just supplements and helps give mom a break. Ten babies is a lot to feed. We will be posting updated individual photos tomorrow to celebrate the new year.

I just finished giving Charlie a bath. If the weather doesn’t get to ugly tonight we plan on taking him on a therapy dog visit tomorrow. Since getting his certification, we haven’t had many opportunities where my work schedule allowed us to go on visits.

I wanted to share with you the products we like to use on our pups when bathing. For general bathing we love Cowboy Magic Shampoo. You can find it online or like us, get it at your local Tractor Supply or farm supply store.

My first dog was a black and white Japanese Chin and I learned about the next products while trying to keep his coat looking it’s best and we have continued to use them with all our dogs.

Dogs with black hair sometimes need a little extra help to make that dark hair shine. This product is amazing. Tonight I used it on Charlie’s head and ears after washing him with the Cowboy Magic.

Finally I washed his belly with this product to help with any urine stains. Thankfully he doesn’t usually have them, but when preparing for a visit I want to make sure he looks his best.

Charlie has more of a poodle coat, with tight curls, so it’s best to blow dry his hair. One of our fellow Therapy Team Handlers introduced us to this dryer that we and the dogs love.

There so many options for color enhancing shampoos and blow dryers on the market. I’ve tried so many other shampoos but I also come back to the Chris Christensen products. Their grooming tools are also top of the line and I highly recommend them. Our dogs prefer their brushes over any others.

The pups from our last litter are getting to the age where their hormones are starting to kick in. The males may start wanting to mount and the females may go into heat. When and if you spay or neuter is a decision best made between you and your vet.

There are a variety of different issues to consider when making those decisions. We prefer to wait until males are at least a year old to neuter because that gives them time to reach their physical maturity. We also prefer to wait until after females have completed their first cycle to spay, but we also understand that many spay prior to that because they would rather not risk an unintended pregnancy and because they don’t want to deal with the sanitary issues involved with going through a cycle.

We kept a female from the last litter, and gauging from how our males are behaving there is a female about to go into heat. Ziggy, the female we kept, is the only intact female we own, so it could be her, but it could also be a dog in our neighborhood. One of our last pups to go to his new home was Astro. He’s living his best life with his dad. Although dad probably won’t be able to carry him around like that much longer. 😂🤣😂

Both Charlie and Delta got to go on a therapy dog visit today. Charlie completed his second test on his journey to become a registered therapy dog. Delta got to go her first visit since the pandemic started. We are all enjoying being able to get back out with the therapy dog teams. The residents and staff at Country Trails were happy to see us as well.

Charlie is on his way to becoming a therapy dog. He passed his handling test and his first observed visit today. He has to complete two more successful observed visits to earn his red heart.

Charlie, from our first litter of Bernedoodles has always sported a Mohawk. When he was groomed the first time, the groomer insisted that he needed one and we loved it so much it’s become his signature look. Sometimes we forget he has one because he’s had it so long. Today we took him for a walk at Tractor Supply and as we were entering another customer started laughing and stopped us to tell us that he loved his Mohawk.

We’ve had beautiful sunshine today. I captured this photo of Delta in the sunshine, with her tongue out after romping in the yard this afternoon. On Tuesday, it will be two weeks since Delta was spayed, so now it’s time to get her back into therapy dog shape.

Please disregard all the mess on the patio, we still haven’t cleaned up everything from the winter storm.
