Meet one of our amazing mentors Lizette Reed, VMD. Dr. Reed is a native of Long Island, New York, and received her B.A. in Biology with a Minor in Education from Boston College in 2006. She then received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010. After an internship in Massachusetts, she spent time practicing emergency medicine at an emergency specialty center in Columbia, SC. Her husband was in the U.S. Navy, which brought them to Norfolk, Virginia in 2014. Dr. Reed currently works at a small animal hospital in Virginia Beach that offers 24-7 emergency services and a full-service general practice. She has largely practiced emergency medicine and urgent care, with a recent side of general practice and dentistry. Dr. Reed’s specific interests include urgent care, emergency medicine, wound care, and soft tissue surgery.

Outside of the clinical setting, she enjoys fishing, metal detecting, outdoor adventures, and traveling. She and her husband, Ryan, have two energetic children, and one special cat named Fozzie, who was a foster fail.

Say hello to Dr. Caryn Finegan, your approachable veterinary mentor. With a wealth of real-world experience, Dr. Finegan is here to provide you with practical advice and a listening ear. No fuss, just genuine insights to support you on your veterinary journey.

Dr. Caryn Finegan graduated from the University Of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. She started her veterinary career in a very busy four-doctor, small animal hospital in New Jersey. In 1995, she moved to Pennsylvania to pursue small animal medicine and surgery at several veterinary practices and participated in the start-up of one.

From 2000-2004, Dr. Finegan was employed by Pfizer Animal Health, Companion Animal Division of Technical Services and Pharmacovigilance. As an independent consultant, she provided callers (veterinarians and pet owners) with expert support regarding the safe and appropriate use of Pfizer's small animal health products. She also collected, analyzed, and reported possible product issues to the appropriate government agencies. At the same time, she continued working in private practice and started her family. She currently works part-time in Bucks County, PA, where her primary focus is small animal wellness, preventative medicine, and client education.

Over the years, Dr. Finegan has learned the importance of balancing work and family life, laughter and gratitude, and taking a moment for one’s self. She still loves veterinary medicine and helping people help their pets and looks forward to helping you help them as well.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, biking, taking long walks with her hubby and Happy dog, reading, and researching human health and wellness, especially nutrition and alternative therapies.
