🐾 Marvelous Meg's Making Moves! 🐾

Sweet little Meg, the 4-month-old Cockapoo, is back for her second private session, and this girl is full of energy and that puppy mischief that we all love so much! 😉

We’ve been laying a strong foundation with her family — working on engagement games like “Watch Me” 👀, introducing leash pressure exercises 🐶, and building consistency with obedience cues like sit and down ✨️

We even kicked off her recall skills using long-line work in a safe, fun way, and tackled the do’s and don’ts of potty training 💩✅ — because starting off on the right paw helps prevent those unwanted habits from ever forming!

Meg’s family is doing an amazing job, and we’re so excited to help her grow into a focused, confident little dog. 💚

🐾 Frankie’s Finding Her Focus! 🐾

Meet Frankie — a 3-year-old rescue from Texas who's now part of our private session program here at K9 Focus Dog Training! 💚

When Frankie joined us, she was carrying some heavy baggage — intense anxiety that had her constantly pacing, whining, and feeling like she just couldn’t settle. She was on two strong anxiety medications, but still, her family felt like they were walking on eggshells trying to help her. Add in serious leash pulling, no impulse control, and no off switch… they were overwhelmed but determined to help her live a better life. 🙏

Now, just 2 sessions into her 10-session program, the change is already incredible. Frankie is finally finding some calm. Her walks? A total dream. Her recall? Improving every day. Most exciting of all — she’s no longer on any anxiety medications! Her confidence is growing, and her family is finally feeling hope again! 🌟

Frankie’s got big things ahead — and by the end of her program, we know this girl is going to be a rockstar! 💫

🐾 Training Tip: Slow Down to Speed Up! 🐶✨

When teaching your dog new skills, it’s tempting to rush the process—but going too fast can lead to frustration (for both of you!). Instead, break training into small, achievable steps to build confidence and long-term success.

Here’s how to slow down the right way:

✅ Lower Distractions First – Start in a quiet space before adding distractions like other dogs, people, or busy environments.

✅ Short & Sweet Sessions – Keep training sessions 10-20 minutes long to avoid mental fatigue. Quality over quantity!

✅ Reward the Small Wins – Mark and reward tiny improvements, like a half-second of eye contact or a moment of loose leash walking. Small successes add up!

✅ Use a Clear Progression – If your dog struggles, take a step back. For example, if recall fails at the park, practice in the backyard before trying again in a busier spot.

✅ Patience Pays Off – Training is a marathon, not a sprint! The more positive and consistent you are, the faster your dog will improve in the long run.

By slowing down, you’ll actually speed up your dog’s learning—making training smoother, more enjoyable, and more reliable!

📌 Dog Training Tip: The Power of Consistency!

Dogs thrive on routine and clear expectations. If you want your pup to learn quickly, make sure everyone in the household is using the same commands and rules.

✅ Use the same words for each command (e.g., always say “Off” instead of sometimes saying “Down”).

✅ Mark good behaviour immediately and follow it up with a reward so your dog makes the right connection.

✅ Set clear boundaries—if the couch is off-limits, it’s off-limits every time!

🐾 Welcome, Agave! 🐾

Say hello to Agave, the newest student in our Private Session Program! This gorgeous Great Pyrenees x Golden Retriever rescue is working on her leash manners and reactivity around other dogs. Like many young pups, Agave sometimes feels big emotions when she sees other dogs on walks, but with the right training, she'll learn to stay calm, confident, and focused on her handler.

She’s already showing us how smart and eager she is—plus, who can resist that fluffy face?! 🥰 We’re so excited to be part of her journey and can’t wait to see her progress!

🐶 Welcome, Jax! 🐶

Meet Jax, a 4-month-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who just started his Private Session Puppy Program with us! This little guy is full of energy and charm, and we’re excited to help him and his family build a strong foundation for success.

Our Puppy Program focuses on:

✅ House manners to set clear expectations at home
✅ Confidence-building and exposure training/proper socialization for a well-rounded pup

🐾 Meet Oakra & Bullard! 🐾

We're thrilled to have these two pups join us for a transformative journey for the next 3 weeks! 🐶

Bullard, a 10-month-old Old English Bulldog, and Oakra, a 4-year-old Shepherd Cross, are here to work on their reactivity, anxiety, and most importantly, learn how to coexist in their household without fighting.

Our board and train program is designed to help them build confidence, manage their emotions, and develop better behaviour around each other and in everyday situations. We’re excited to watch them grow and build stronger, more positive relationships with each other and their family.

🐾 Welcome back Bruce! 🐾

Bruce is a 10-month-old Bernese Mountain Dog who's already making big strides in his training! 🐶 We're just on his 2nd private session to work on his walking manners and reactivity, and we’re already seeing great improvements. 👏

Bruce is learning to walk with more focus, stay calm around distractions, and show off his best behaviour! With each session, he’s becoming more confident and well-mannered.

Keep up the great work, Bruce! Can’t wait to see how much you grow in the weeks to come! 🌟

🐾 Meet Gus! 🐾

Gus is a 7 month old German Short-haired Pointer who struggles with some pretty intense excitability, anxiety, and pulls on his leash like he's training to be an all-star sled dog! 🐶

After working with Gus for just a few minutes, we noticed that he's really a very sweet boy who just needed a little guidance and structure to become the gentleman that we knew he could be! 🎩

One of the biggest challenges that we see many families face with their dogs, specifically with high drive breeds like Pointers or Shepherds, is understanding that every dog breed was bred for a purpose. These genetic traits will always take some spot within their temperament and natural disposition. These traits, if ignored, can result in some pretty serious behaviours. This is why building a solid routine with structure and boundaries into their daily life is so important. Working on exercises that are mentally stimulating can go a long way with helping your dog focus these traits and improving their behaviours.

Now that Gus and his family are heading in the right direction, we can't wait to watch them improve their relationship in leaps and bounds!

🐾 Meet Piper the Bully and Archie the Cockapoo 🐶

This adorable duo recently joined our private session training program after developing some destructive tendencies at home when left to their own devices.

For this session, we focused heavily on helping this family learn how to build a stronger, more healthy relationship that will help curb these destructive and nuisance behaviours.

Multi-dog households can be a tough area for anyone to navigate! It takes an experienced eye to catch all the subtle cues that each dog gives us in order to see the full picture behind the behaviours. These small and subtle missed cues can develop into some pretty big behaviours!

We're thrilled to be a part of Piper and Archie's journey towards a happier, healthier relationship with their family!🐾
