Although the summer may be coming to an end, Kitten Season is still in full force. Did you know that about 80% of cats are born outdoors?

The only way to combat this overpopulation of kittens and to prevent suffering, and euthanasia due to overcrowding, is TNR: Trap Neuter Return, the only proven effective way to control outside cat populations. For more information, please visit https://www.alleycat.org/

Because outside cats can have up to 3 litters of kittens in one season, this last batch is at a huge disadvantage. This is also usually the time of year when early spring kittens are starting to have kittens of their own. Did you know a kitten can become pregnant at just 4 months of age? These inexperienced cats are just kittens themselves and it is very dangerous.

These 3rd litter kittens and kittens of kittens tend to have the most health challenges out of all the litters. Immune compromised, full of fleas, bot flies, ear mites, herpes symptoms, etc. These kittens are at risk when the temperatures start dropping.

In rescue, we have a hard time getting these kittens to thrive on the usual kitten diet. I supplement any kittens that come into my care. I use First Response, Fortifier, and Rapid Rehab. View the photos for more information. These supplements give the kittens every possible chance to survive and thrive to be adopted into loving homes.

With the seasons changing and the temps getting very cold, kittens born late in the season and outdoor cats will struggle with poor health.
