Hearts United for Good may be stepping in to help with this sweet pup. He currently has an appointment on the books at Stand 4 Animals on 10/16 to get checked out and vaccinated. That may change if HUG steps in as I don't know their veterinary connections. I'll update as I have information. Thanks all for your kind words and willingness to help!

Help Needed!!
Meet Mandalas, a 14-year-old Collie/Lab/Hound mix who has been the lifelong companion of a woman now facing heartbreaking challenges. His owner has been battling severe mental illness and recently suffered a tragic fall, breaking her back. After emergency surgery, she contracted a serious staph infection. If she recovers, she will likely be moved to assisted living, leaving her loyal dog behind. Her plea from the hospital: "Please take care of my dog—he was my life."

Right now, this sweet dog is tied to a tree during the day and brought inside a deteriorating trailer at night, as only kind neighbors are able to help. He suffers from skin issues and fleas, and no vet records can be found. Local shelters have said his age and health make adoption unlikely, but we refuse to give up on him.

We understand that many are focused on the ongoing emergency in Western North Carolina, and our hearts are with everyone affected. While we all do what we can to support that critical effort, we’re also trying to help this dog find safety and care.

How you can help:
• Donate to cover medical costs and give him the comfort he deserves.
• Foster and offer a temporary home where he can heal.
• Share his story to help us reach others who may be able to help.
