Happy Anniversary
Celebrating 16 years of Rescuing, Rehabilitating and Reducing the stray cat population through our Subsidized Spay/Neuter and TNR programs! Our cat sanctuary was built and donated by two founding volunteers 14 years ago! Back then, we knew we would inevitably get kitties with behaviour or health issues and we knew we needed a solid plan for those that would usually just “fall through the cracks!” These are the kitties that do not make it to most rescues because they are considered “unadoptable”, but what would happen to them otherwise? We have over 150 such kitties in our care right now. If we are not able to help a kitty, it is ONLY ever because we are over-capacity. We will NEVER turn away a kitty because it is old, sick, needing expensive surgery or needing extra TLC!
Sadly, these cats are the ones that are often overlooked and left behind.
We have placed over 4500 in loving homes!
We started our community subsidized spay/neuter programs to help low income community members that needed a “paw up” getting these life-saving surgeries done! We allocate between $20-$30,000 a month helping community members!
We started our Senior Foster Program to help place our cats with seniors looking for a loving companion. We have placed over 30 cats to date. The estimated cost to run our program is between $2000 to $4000 per month.
We provide four cats to the Bethany Care Centre in Red Deer that live on site. We provide all food, litter and veterinary care to ensure the residents get all the love and purrs they need! We also bring kittens for our monthly Purrscription Therapy visits as well!
We supply food and litter to over four feral colonies and to many local community members through our Pet Food Bank, thanks to those who donate so generously to our rescue!
We do all this as volunteers because we care so much about our community and want to make a true and lasting difference as part of our legacy! We are 100% Volunteer run! We have absolutely no paid staf
Little “McNugget” was recently found injured in a McDonalds parking lot! He was dragging his front leg and he has road rash on a hind paw. He is exhausted and a bit shy but he is such a cuddle bug! X-rays revealed he has nerve damage so he will need to have an amputation once he is older. He is currently getting lots of love thanks to foster mama Lynn! He has had his first set of vaccines and deworming! If you would like to donate toward his future care, there is no amount too small! It all adds up! We welcome this sweet family to our rescue! Meet Lexington, Goliath, Jazz, Madison, Brooklyn, Oscar and Hudson! Their stray pregnant mama had been found and brought in by some very caring people who raised these little ones Purrfectly until we could bring them in! She will be spayed and may already have a home! They are going through their vaccine quarantine and are being lovingly fostered by Marilyn, who is part of our Foster Dream Team! They will be up for adoption soon! We are so grateful to our wonderful foster families who help us do this work! This sweetie was abandoned by her owners when they moved to BC- they couldn’t find her…so they left without her. She may not be considered “highly adoptable” and may be overlooked by many…but she found her way into our hearts. We received a WONDERFUL surprise gift from one of our very own volunteers!!! When our Sanctuary washer broke down yet again, Seanna O’Loan gave us the amazing news that she was buying us a brand new washer and dryer! We do many loads every day and have been getting by with reconditioned appliances but they didn’t last long with how much laundry we do! We were absolutely thrilled and brought to happy tears for such a thoughtful gift! The Little Cabin Big Woods Winner!
Cheeto was found stuck in a dumpster on an acreage! He was possibly stuck for several days without anyone knowing and luckily the container was opened before garbage day! He jumped out and ran to the first puddle he could find for water! He had some bite wounds on him that are healing well and he has been neutered, vaccinated, leukaemia tested and dewormed! Our kittens got LOTS of cuddles, we sold raffle tickets and some delicious fudge and got to spend time with some wonderful friends and we made some new ones as well! Thank you to all who came to say hi! We truly appreciate such loving community support! We had so much fun shopping the store and seeing the beautiful selection of flooring and tiles!
