Hi there and welcome to our Kennel - From The Heart of Slavonia
The name of the kennel is associated to the place where I grew up. I grew up in the heart of Slavonia, on the slopes of Krndija in the beautiful rural surroundings of the town of Našice. Slavonia is known for its fertile soil, beautiful nature, oak forests, and hardworking and hospitable people who diligently cultivated the land and raised a large number of animals – Black Slavonian pigs, Croatian hens, Lipizzaner horses, cows, sheep, goats, geese, ducks. etc. None of this would have been possible had it not been for their faithful friends who unconditionally helped them to guard and gather cattle, to protect estates from intruders, to catch rats etc… - and these are CROATIAN SHEEPDOGS.
Growing up with Croatian Sheepdogs and their immense love and willingness to work, a love for dogs, especially herding breeds, was created. Even at a young age I started reading and researching about dogs, history, origin, development, socialization, upbringing, training, obedience etc. Working with dogs has become my favorite hobby that I enjoy greately. I like to train my own and other people's dogs, and help owners build a good relationship with their dogs and make their daily life or work with livestock easier.
In 2014, I adopted a female Border Collie. Her insatiable desire to work, high energy levels, and herding instinct impressed me so much that I immediately threw myself into reading, research, education, and lifelong learning about that breed and stockdog training. That same year, my search for a kennel and the "perfect" dog for me began. In 2020, I finally found her (Never Walk Alone) and got my first Border Collie puppy - Sky (I want you).
