Delivered this pair of silver sisters to their new family today! A deserving young man was gifted them by his supportive family for his birthday - the look that was on his face is the biggest reason why I do this 💙 Connecting cavies with their humans!!

Our last winter litters! We’ve been really blessed with beautiful, healthy pups. Hopefully our next season will be the same!!

It’s a good day at Bitty Berry Caviary’s rescue! A few months back we took in Juliette and Rochelle, two “senior” sows who’s family just couldn’t have them anymore, each blind in one eye “from age”. Upon examination, we determined they are not older than three, and the eye issues were both from a lack of care. One had a severe hay poke and the other a scratched cornea, both just left to their own devices.

Today is proof that vet care and good home care truly work. We treated both girls’ eyes diligently, fed them our standard high quality hay and pellets, supplemented with fresh vegetables, topped off with unlimited fresh, clean water. Their home is kept clean and dry and warm, and they get social time and snuggle time just like all our pigs. Today, both pigs have two clear, unmarred eyes without a hint of damage or infection!!

These girls will stay with us for a while longer to make sure they are strong and healthy, but we will adopt them to the right home if that home comes along :) They have several more healthy years ahead of them!!

We are officially a rescue now! Taking in, rehabilitating, and rehoming Guinea pigs of all varieties - limited by space of course but we hope that in addition to bringing new beautiful rare breeds to the world that we can also save some wonderful babies already out in the world.

Thing three of the week (so far!) Abyssinian mama Shadow was hiding this pair well under a fluffy bed in her cage! I think they’re about three days old, both self lemon agouti and feisty :) They are both Abyssinian and teddy gene carriers. One is being retained for our program, but her sister is available!

Second up is Sterling. Sterling is the true runt of a litter of two. His sibling was so oversized, it was DOA, and his mother sort of lost her marbles over it. I found this tiny baby hiding under one of his mother’s friends. Lilith’s mother has adopted him happily, but he is getting supplemental nutrition as well. He should be carrying the teddy coat gene, and has a white crest rosette. As he is significantly undersized, we will retain him at least for now.

It’s been an exciting week. First up is little miss Lilith, a skinny carrier who’s skinny father unexpectedly carries Abyssinian! While she doesn’t have a full set of rosettes, she is a beautiful girl. Lilith will be retained for our program.

Franky is one of the prettiest pigs we have ever known.
She placed first in the marked senior sow class and is BOB!
Judge comments “1st FRANCINE- She has a good head, good ear, and good pattern. Very clean and clear patches. She also has clean and clear skin. She has good broad shoulders and body.”
Very sadly, we lost our Franky a couple of weeks after this show. She went out on top 💙
