I can’t get enough of this sweet and snuggly duo. Ruby, a chihuahua mix, is looking fantastic for her estimated 16-17 year old age! Her little sister Olive, a 2 year old mini poodle, keeps her young. 🐾

In light of this being the week of Thanksgiving, I’ve found myself reflecting this morning on things I’m thankful for.

They say you’ll never work a day in your life if you love what you do, and never have I felt that more than I do with this job. My heart is so full. 💜

The Petite Chalet: How It All Started 🐾

When Dalton and I moved out to Oregon from Maryland, leaving our 5lb maltese Nikki with family was no longer an option. Like a lot of little dogs, Nikki was sensitive and required special care. She did not do well in kennel environments, around small children, or around larger high-energy dogs.

I learned quickly that there were limited options for her here in The Gorge. While we were lucky to eventually find trusted care for her, I found myself wondering how many other people shared our same predicament.

One day, while spending time at home with Nikki, I was struck with the idea of creating a specialized boarding service for dogs like her. I wanted to provide a peaceful space where dogs could come relax and enjoy themselves around others their size.

Pairing my personal experiences as a pet owner and sitter, and professional background as a front desk kennel agent, I got to work developing the ideal boarding service here at our home with both pet and owner in mind. A few weeks later, The Petite Chalet was born.

I’ve learned a lot and met so many great people and animals along the way. This work is incredibly fulfilling, I feel so fortunate to be able to do what I do and I truly love my job. Thanks for following me along this adventure 💜

I’m back in town after a much needed camp trip on the Nehalem River! It was so nice to spend time in nature and disconnect from screens for a few days.

My sitting services will resume tomorrow, Monday August 8th.

Reminiscing on the good times with Nikki and feeling grateful she was able spend her last weekend with these sweet girls.

Nikki had cancer and declined very fast. Even though she was almost 15, I had hoped we’d have more time together.

I could not have predicted how supported I’d feel through pet sitting during this difficult time. I can honestly say this work has made all the difference.

Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out, I appreciate you. 💜🐾

We had to say our goodbyes to Nikki yesterday. Her vet was able to come to our home and she passed on peacefully in my arms.

Nikki was my best friend for nearly 15 years—a constant in my life since age 13. We’ve been through so much together. She was the funniest, sweetest, quirkiest little dog and I loved her more than words can describe.

It was her time and I’m grateful we were able to help her pass on in the comfort of our home, but this is still so difficult. 💔

RIP Nikki Noodle 9/21/07-7/26/22 🐾
