Hi friends! I am pausing all new cake orders for the foreseeable future. As much as this hurts, I need to set some personal time/financial boundaries for my own sanity. I hope to take this break to reevaluate and come up with a more sustainable game plan which will help me to offer cakes again in the future 🐶

If you have a cake on the calendar, I am still creating those at the price point as quoted 🐾

Curious on what goes into a custom cake? Here are just some of the steps/factors 🎂

Cake design:
-researching
-drawing ideas
-figuring out a way to make it with dog friendly ingredients

Cookies:
-mixing the dough which includes handmade peanut butter
-cutting out (custom cookie cutters or hand cut shapes)
-stamping
-dehydrating

If decorated/flooded cookies:
-mixing the frosting
-getting the colors just right using all natural food colors
-piping and drying time
-possible carob sticks

Cake:
-mixing the batter
-prepping the pans
-cooking
-leveling
-mixing frosting including adding colors
-filling piping bags
-base cover
-detail work

Packaging Up:
-building the box, etc.
-photos (which I rarely take right now because getting the perfect look is extra work).

Cleaning:
-dishes!!!

Delivery/Pickup:
-sometimes not because it’s during my dog training hours but sometimes it’s on one of my days off

This does not include costs that cut into profit such as:
Payment processing fees
Ingredients
Packaging
Other supplies (piping tips, cookie cutters, etc)

For all of my cakes, I am making less than minimum wage and sometimes as low as $2-3 per hour.

Happy 11th Birthday to my Lucy! 💕

She has the funniest easy-going personality (unless it’s meal time or she needs a bathroom break - then she is staring you down with her one eye and probably whining 😆) with the best tail wags you could ever wish for. She is a rockstar in my R+R training program and is just like a cuddly teddy bear.

I have to admit that her birthday is in November, but it’s been a very busy few weeks for us, so she is getting her cake this weekend (better late than never, right 🤞)

Another admission: I messed up her cake and slid it off the cake stand as I was taking pictures. This is my absolute worse nightmare for a customer’s cake. Even though it was frustrating, I was so grateful that it was my cake I messed up and not a customers 😅

But as I’m writing this, I’m thinking of my cute Lucy with her one eye and her other undiagnosable medical things going on right now. She doesn’t look like the “perfect” dog - just like the cake didn’t end up perfect at the end - but she’s perfect to me, and that’s all that matters.

Dogs are the best. I love you Lucy 💕
