Heidi is getting out there and socializing her new Malinois puppy “Church”! Many are told to NOT do this until the dog is fully vaccinated.
Here’s The Work Around…
Pull a shopping cart up to your vehicle, put something soft for the dog to lay on and tote them around the store.
Here’s some stores that allow this and I recommend:
Lowes, Home Depot, tractor supply, Academy Sports, Sportsman’s warehouse, Hobby Lobby.
Hit each one of these stores 4-5 times each between the ages of 8-18 weeks.
This way the dog learns to adapt and relax in changing environments and make good life long associations.

Many people miss this window of opportunity and have to go through behavior modification when the dog is older, which is a much slower, time consuming and costly way that may never be as good as doing this at the puppy’s fear stage of development.

A lot of people have been asking and concerned so I thought I’d post this. IM NOT A VET so please talk to yours as a part of your due diligence as a loving dog owner.

A variety of common canine pathogens, none of them new, could be driving the recent outbreaks.

I’m such a dog geek! I watched the farmers and their dogs (Icelandic sheep dogs and border collie mixes) round up the sheep from the mountains for a hour in Stuðlagil Canyon!

“Merlin” (Mini Aussie) and his Happy, Bouncy Butt while training at Lowes in Camden!

This is a big deal for client Lisa Bertram for “Merlin” to be relaxed and responsive in a new place, with all kinds of distractions and other reactive dogs (which we bumped into there). Very proud of you two!

Today was a big accomplishment for DJ, Rebecca and ‘Grace’! To be able to sit in the lobby of Wateree Animal Hospital in Camden, and have a controlled, calm dog!
Even one of the vet techs who knows them said “Whose dog is THAT?”
