Nellie 🌸

performing a beautiful ‘paws up’ exercise where her front paws are placed on an higher surface to shift her weight back into her hindquarters. During this exercise, baited stretches of the head and neck can be added which would make Nellie’s hindlimb musculature engage to hold the correct position and balance. The surface used for her forelimb can be more or less soft to increase difficulty.

Softer surface : harder to keep balance ✨

Beyond proud of Remy and Joe Midgley Horsemanship for the many great results achieved last Sunday at the WES competition at . 🐴

Remy has just turned 5yo and this was his first real competition. He behaved impeccably taking home many rosettes and prices. 🏵️

He then received a post competition treatment by myself to make sure he was feeling at his best ready for his next competition this weekend.

Good luck 🤠

It’s been hectic at Furry Friends over the past few weeks with the move and trying to sort out new enclousures for all the animals, but just to give you an update on some of the animals.

Daisy, continues to make steady progress and she has started treatment with the lovely Greta who is a veterinary physiotherapist. Emma and Simon are doing a fab job doing lots of rehab work with her.

Little Suzie the foal is doing great as well as Nuggie the little rescue pony who has settled well with his new buddy Hilton.

Looking forward to showing you how it’s all coming along at the Farm in the near future (well for the animals, not our house!)

🚨To all my lovely clients and future ones 🚨

I am so grateful for all the support and trust I am receiving from all of you but I am currently working an equivalent of a full time job with my Physio, together with a 3 days a week job as Therapy Coordinator at BBC while also trying to write my Master Thesis. I kept it up for as long as possible but I am now starting to struggle and I am booked up every day till beginning of July. 🙏🏼

💖As much as I LOVE meeting new faces and helping all your lovely animals. I will have to close my diary to any NEW clients till September 2024. Regular clients will still be going ahead as previously arranged but keep in mind if you haven’t booked in yet for your follow up, I currently have a waiting list of 5 weeks.

🌟THANK YOU SOOO MUCH FOR YOUR ONGOING SUPPORT GUYS. I will update everyone when I can start taking on new clients again. 🐶🐴🐱🐰

Feel free to contact me to be advised on a different professional ! 🐶🐴

🐶 DOGGY OWNERS 🐶

If you have or know of a dog diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD) please could you send them the following link?

For my Master Degree I am looking into IVDD and its impact on Owners. If you have or have previously had a dog with IVDD, I would like your input to see if anything can be done by professionals to help owners better manage the disease 📖

Your experiences and insights are incredibly valuable in understanding the challenges and finding ways to support our dogs. By participating in this survey, you'll be contributing to important research that can make a difference in the lives of dogs with IVDD. So, if you've been through this journey with your pup, I would greatly appreciate your input. Click the link to take the survey and share your valuable knowledge.

Thank you in advance for your help 🐾.

🌟 Equine Physiotherapy: More Than Just a Massage! 🌟

A lovely little throwback to where my physiotherapy journey began with learning muscle names, origins and insertions. As my education continued we delved deeper into the intricate details of the equine body and I soon realised that equine physiotherapy was more than just massaging ‘tight’ muscles.

While massage and laser therapy can provide temporary relief for muscle tension, lasting benefits require daily changes to the horse’s lifestyle and posture. 🏇💪

What goes into Equine Physiotherapy?

1️⃣ Muscle Tension: Massage therapy and electrotherapies can help release muscle tension and promote relaxation. However, to address the root cause, it’s important to consider the horse’s overall lifestyle and posture.

2️⃣ Exercise and Conditioning: Incorporating appropriate exercise and conditioning programs can help strengthen weak muscles and improve overall muscle balance. This can lead to better posture and long-term benefits.

3️⃣ Posture and Alignment: Correcting posture and alignment issues is crucial for the horse. Equine physiotherapy focuses on identifying and addressing any imbalances or asymmetries, which can lead to improved performance and reduced risk of injury.

4️⃣ Lifestyle Changes: Making daily lifestyle changes for your horse is the most important part of physiotherapy having lasting benefits. This includes increasing turnout, removing hay nets, using a mounting block and performing the prescribed exercises such as pole-work and stretches. It all comes down to you.

🌟 Remember, equine physiotherapy is a holistic approach that considers the horse as a whole. It combines various techniques, including massage, laser therapy, exercises, lifestyle adjustments and a multidisciplinary approach to achieve lasting benefits for our beloved horses🐴💕

So, let’s give our horses the comprehensive care they deserve and ensure they enjoy a happy, healthy, and balanced life! 🌈✨

What more could you want than a horse who comes to you so you don’t have to get off the stool? ✨

Everyone meet Remmy 🐻. Except for being an absolute superstar at only 4 years of age, Remmy is the first Quarter horse I ever treated. His dad does a lot of ground work with him as you can tell and thought him this very clever trick which I found super useful throughout my session with him 🤪. Joe Midgley Horsemanship
