Has anyone lost a dog?

When a dog is wearing a yellow colour (collar, ribbon, coat or lead) it is a signal to other owners that this dog does not wish to be approached.
Why would a dog not want to be approached? There are lots of reasons why a pet may need space:
• Fear or anxiety around people or other dogs.
• The potential to act aggressive.
• The need for space as they are currently being trained so their owner wants distractions kept to a minimum.
• Being unwell or elderly.
If you spot a dog in yellow, give them plenty of space. If your dog is off lead, consider clipping them back on. This is very important if there is even a chance your dog may want to greet the nervous dog. Regardless of how gentle or friendly your dog is, this dog doesn’t want the interaction.

We're super excited for Devon Howlers, Newnham Bark on the 20th & 21st April at Newnham Park in Plympton! 🎉

We're hosting a Dog Show at 3pm on the 20th April with loads of family friendly categories to get your pooch involved with! Rosettes from 1st to 4th place! Entry is £2 per class, per dog, with all funds going to help the animals in our care. 🧡

We'll also have our stall there all weekend stocked to the brim with Gables goodies, second hand bargains, handcrafted items & lots, lots more! 😍

🐍 ADDERS 🐍

It's that time of year already.... 😨 They are about!

Be SUPER VIGILANT everyone!

Yesterday, after walking at Little Dartmouth, my son spotted two adders sunbathing to the left of a footpath, approximately 3-5 metres apart.

Now luckily, the kids were calmly walking along the path and not in the hedge, along with the dog... I'm glad we didn't have the spaniels with us!! 🙏 And safe to say when they were spotted Dora went straight back on the lead.

If you think your dog has been bitten by an adder, you need to ring your vet straight away and get your dog there ASAP!

Signs they may have been bitten by an adder ⬇️

✅ Swelling around the wound site (you may be able to see two puncture wounds)
✅ Signs of pain (acting strange or nervous)
✅ Bleeding
✅ Lameness

In severe cases ⬇️

⚠️ They may collapse
⚠️ Tremors or convulsions

What to do if you think your dog has been bitten by an adder? 🐍

1. Stay calm
2. Ring your vet
3. Carry them back to the car to help reduce the venom from spreading around their body.
4. DO NOT apply any kind of bandage, leave the wound site alone.

100% recommend this if you have, or are due to bring home, a new puppy! 🐶

New course dates!!! 🐾🐶

All the courses starting in December are now full so the next courses with spaces are all starting in the new year!!

Remember if you are due to collect a puppy it’s worth signing up as soon as possible as spaces sell out fast and you may miss out if you wait until your puppy is older.

All puppies can come to puppy school as soon as they have had their second vaccine and your vets have cleared them to come!

When you sign up you will receive a welcome pack in the post containing a course manual, vouchers and free treats from Natures Menu!

The whole course is 6 weeks long and covers all of the basic puppy life skills needed to ensure your puppy grows into a happy, well rounded, well socialised and well mannered dog!
