You’re training your puppy daily BUT the behavior isn’t changing. Here’s why👇🏻
Your puppy doesn’t know what to do instead
When they’re out of the crate and don’t have your attention, they think “what the f do I do with myself?” and suddenly, they’re barking, biting, and chewing things they shouldn’t
The good news? Getting your puppy to stop biting or chewing random things isn’t about chasing them around 24/7 or finding the next way to stop the biting, it’s about your puppy learning instinctively to calmly play with their own toys when they don’t have your attention instead of barking, biting, or getting into things
You’re already putting in the work. You’re consistent. You’re determined. You’re not someone who wants to “wait it out” and the good news? It’s not about doing more or waiting it out, its about making the work you’re already putting in pay off
Imagine this👇🏻
Two weeks from now, you wake up, take your 🐶 out, grab your ☕️ and instead of chasing them around, they’re calmly playing with a toy at your feet
You work from home, you’re actually able to get work done throughout the day without stopping every 2 seconds to redirect them
At the end of a long day you sit on the couch, your 🐶 is snuggled up next to you as you watch your favorite show. You’re finally able to relax without having to be on edge about the mischief they’re getting into
This is exactly where my client is NOW. But when she started in my 1:1 program?
🦈She was being attacked by a land shark 24/7.
🐾She was constantly chasing her puppy around
🐶She was overwhelmed, feeling like most of her day was chaos
And no matter how much she redirected, ignored, or gave her puppy a toy… nothing changed
Because he didn’t need to be distracted with a toy. He needed to learn how to be bored
We focused on:
✔️ Teaching her puppy to be ok being bored & not needing attention 24/7
✔️ Teaching him to grab a
You know that it is going to be you and your puppy against the world, that they’ll be your adventure buddy, because you’re all in, highly motivated to train them, and having a well trained dog isn’t really an option for you, BUT you’re looking for someone who is going to hold your hand, and guide you
You’re future focused. You’re ready to see progress with your puppy’s behavior now, but you also want to work on leash training, you want them to be well behaved in public. to be able to take them to the dog friendly restaurant with them sitting by your feet, or on a hike when the weather is nice and you want personal support, someone to hold your hand and guide you through all of that
You’re willing to put in the work, to be 100% consistent, but you don’t want the guess work
You don’t want a quick win. You want to succeed with your puppy in the long term: You know that you’re going to go through so many phases with your puppy, and you want the confidence of knowing that you have somebody who knows you and your puppy that you can go to when things do come up

Imagine this
2 weeks down the road, you wake up, take your puppy out to go potty
Come inside, feed them, and grab your coffee
You’re sitting on the couch, and they’re calmly playing with their own toy in front of you, without you having to worry about them sneaking off and getting into things, or not getting any moment of peace because you’re getting up every 2 seconds to redirect them
You get ready for work, with them being your little buddy. You’re not having to put them in the crate or pen any time you have to get something done, because they’re not biting or getting into things
You work from home throughout the day, take breaks to play with them and it’s actually fun playing with them. They’re not biting, you’re not getting holes in your clothes, feeling frustrated because you have this adorable new people that you desperately want to bond with but cant because all they do is bite
You get to the end of your day, cook dinner, play with your puppy
Then you turn on your favorite show, grab your night time drink, sit on the couch, with them snuggled up next to you, petting them as you watch a show and scroll TikTok, without them biting
You go to bed feeling like you had a successful day, you got things done, it didn’t feel like constant chaos
Individualize 1:1 training where we prioritize boredom, calm behavior with your puppy, and utilize my root cause approach, vs just redirecting all day is what will get you there

Food for thought

You’re highly motivated to have a well trained puppy, so consistent, and you’re solution focused
When you see a “problem”, you want to know what to do to move through it and want to get ahead of it as quickly as possible without trying to figure it out on your own, because you got a puppy for the companionship not to become a puppy trainer
And that is (one of the magics) of my 1:1 program, and it’s why my 1:1 clients have access to text me 7 days per week with questions
This isn’t a space where I give you a one hour training and then you’re on your own for a week
This is me and you together, I’m a partner in training your puppy, doing everything with you, where you get support when you need it, not once per week and then you’re left on your own

When people say “I feel like I’m always redirecting my puppy and yet they keep biting, barking, etc, I’m not seeing a change in their behavior”
99% of the time when I work with them it’s because they were relying too much on redirection
If you’re always redirecting to a toy when they bite, ignoring when they bark and only praising when they stop, taking the thing out of their mouth and giving them a toy, that tells me that they don’t have enough guidance on what to do INSTEAD of bite when they want attention, INSTEAD of barking when they want something, INSTEAD of grabbing things when they’re bored
Once you get to the root of the behavior and teach your puppy what to do INSTEAD (ie sit, calmly play with your own toys), which is what I do with puppy owners in my 1:1 program daily, you’ll see them be more calm
You’ll be doing work from home with them calmly next to you playing with a toy, with you actually being able to focus on your work instead of being anxious that your manager is going to wonder why you haven’t gotten anything done
You’ll be able to sit on the couch at night after a long day and watch your favorite show with them cuddled up next to you with their own toy, without them biting or running off and getting into things and you having to be paranoid about all the mischief they’re getting into
You’ll finally feel connected to them, be able to bond with them because they won’t bite, bark, etc anymore because they now understand what to do INSTEAD
It’s how we taught Cookie, a 3 month old Lab puppy to stop biting in 2.5 weeks after they were constantly redirecting her for a month prior to us working together, spending hours of their day redirecting, searching for solutions and not seeing a change
It’s how we taught Sami, a 4 month Bernese puppy to stop biting in 2.5 weeks of working together after she completed a 6 week puppy class prior to us working together just for her puppy to keep biting (because they were onl

Most people have the “never wake a sleeping baby” when it comes to training their puppy
You spend so much time redirecting, telling them “no”, taking the thing away, that when they’re calm, it’s like…. ❌ don’t wake the beast ❌
But puppies will always continue to engage in behaviors that get them attention
If you’re ONLY praising your puppy AFTER you redirect them-
🐾After they bite and you redirect to a toy and they start chewing on the toy
🐾After they grab the shoe, you take it away, and give them a toy
🐾After they bark, and you ignore until they stop, and they finally stop
🐾After they jump, and you say “off”, and they get off
Then they are learning that the “calm” behavior does not get attention, and the biting, barking, jumping, etc does
90% of training your puppy should be PREVENTING the behaviors from happening, by teaching your puppy what to do instead (what I call my gentle parenting and root cause approach) and only about 10% should be actually redirecting, meaning what to do WHEN they’re ALREADY biting, barking, etc
If you’re not getting many calm moments, and all day is focused on redirection, we’re not getting to the root of the behavior, and they’ll keep getting mixed signals about which behaviors you WANT them to engage in
When we teach your puppy what TO DO instead-
🐾How to get your attention in other ways, without biting (ie bringing you a toy, sitting, laying next to you with a toy)
🐾How to play with you without biting (ie instead of grabbing your shirt, pants, hair, grabbing a toy)
🐾How to be bored (ie instead of grabbing the window shade, rug, pillow, sock when they’re bored, or biting, to sit and calmly play with their own you near you)
It becomes natural for them “oh I’m bored, I’ll go lay down with my toy”, “oh I’m excited and want attention, let me grab a toy and bring it to mom”, and you’ll see more of that calm behavior
This is exactly what we work on toge
You’re highly motivated to train your puppy
You want a well behaved puppy and are willing to be 100% consistent, but you want to take the guess work out and you would rather invest in learning what to do and do it correctly from day one, rather than waiting, trying to figure it out on your own, and having to correct behaviors 3-4 months down the road
