For every exotic bird/animal that even makes it to a pet shop, 9 die from suffering the journey being smuggled across borders in inhumane conditions without food or water. If you see exotic animals for sale in a pet shop they are almost certainly illegally trafficked. Moreover you can be sure 99$ of buyers don't know how to carre for an exotic. Please help stop this horrible trade in death. Contact the EEAA (scroll down the page to find the number) who can confiscate them and fine the petshop to discourage the practice of purchasing exotics.

ANIMAL ABUSERS

Recent photo, puppy in the scorching sun, no water...the shop has a bad reputation and has been reported previously for animal abuse. Please don't buy here.

The owner is Dr Ayman Radwan a vet who has a notorious reputation as a dog breeder and abuser who cuts ears and tails of dogs for clients.

New Improved AMIN pet shop!!

Good morning everyone!
I wanted to share the new and improved Amin Pet Shop.
It's almost right next to their old premisis.
All the people who work there are so helpful, it looks like they have a larger selection of stock and most importantly they don't sell animals.
Pictured is Amin, the owner - he told me they're in talks with Royal Canin to sponsor the food that they put out for the baladi cats (who all look healthy and are super friendly!)
Please support this business by buying from them and not other shops in Maadi that do sell animals.

Well stocked with good variety of petfood and accessories.

Owner Tamer is very helpful and friendly.

Delivery Service (local area)

He occasionally has animals but not more than 3 at a time, well cared for, clean, fed and watered. All animals have spacious crates and are inside in airconditioning, not in street. Staff treat them with care and take care of health and medical needs.

I have told him ant many (myself included) would be happier if he didn't carry animals at all.........he is considering this request for future.

If you plan to file a complaint against a pet shop or animal dealer please bear in mind the following procedures and include as much of the following info as possible:

Complaint Requirements: Take pictures of the abuse as evidence for the police report. Find out the correct name and address of the abuser if ordinary person or if owner of a pet shop. Try to make a police complaint at the precinct of the district where the abuse took place.
Complaint should mention article 357 of the penal law and Ministerial Decree 27/1967 for the protection of animals. Use witnesses if available. Building 4/2 road 216 second floor. Thanks to Irena Who showed me this horrible shop. The horrible man didn't even realise that she is dead until I told him ..I am so so angry

I'm thinking it might be important to walk around the back of these pet shops (on the old train tracks) on Grand Mall with a camera and take a look....(please don't do it if you are a lady alone - some of these pet shop people can get very nasty and you will be out of view of the street and public). A small group with not less than 3 men present could do it...?

The owner used to sell animals some years ago but realized that the buyers were often not treating them properly.

He decided to stop, and though he took a cut in profits, considered its worth it to avoid the inevitable abuse of the animals.

Baladi pets supplies shop Maadi was born as the results of the two owners previous years of experience with animal rescue. In that sense it is truly unique in that animal welfare is a core value of the enterprise, and part of the profit from their sales is donate to animal welfare projects.

Eslam Yehia and Ahmed Hamed are both committed animal lovers with rescued cats and dogs of their own. So not only is it a shop selling carefuly selected supplies (they have filtered out the products that are known to be risky or injurious to the animals health) it is also a place where you can comfortably ask advice about the best purchases for your animals and get an authentic and researched answer instead of a sales pitch, as well as a place where they raise awareness about the needs for TNR and actively support the adopt don't shop policy.

Baladi shop neither buys nor sells animals....the only animals you will find there are happy, well fed street cats that wander in and out freely and the owners own rescued dogs!

Eslam and Ahmed are great guys who will go the extra mile to help oout, especially where rescues and baladis are involved!!

Certainly ulfills the requirements for an ethical and cruelty free pet shop!! Do visit their page for contact and address.

We are committed to supporting and promoting ethical pet shops and encouraging the public to make their purchases from them, while exposing and encouraging the boycott of petshops that neglect, abuse or mistreat their animals.

There is pretty much a concensus that AMIN on Road 9 is one of the best. They do not sell animals, though the owner feeds he street cats and you will always find a bowl of fresh water for thirsty cats outside too!! (There are at least 7 happy cats in the photo!) Well stocked with a good variety of foods and all your pet needs and a friendly and helpful owner and staff. If you cant find what you are looking for the owner will endeavor to obtain it for you. Reasonable prices.
