Hello kangirsumiut,

We have DAPP / Rabies dog vaccine available, if your pet has not been vaccinated yet pls don’t hesitate to let us know, we are more than happy to help!

Dapp is a vaccine that helps protect your dog against common viruses such as Distemper virus, Adenovirus types 1 & 2, Parainfluenza virus, Parvovirus and they are all highly contagious!

The infection, canine distemper closely resembles rabies and it is transmitted through direct contact or airborne exposure, food bowls etc. It is an incurable, often fatal, multisystemic (affecting multiple organs) disease that affects the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and central nervous systems.

(Dogs can live once infected with distemper, but they will usually develop lifelong debilitating nervous system issues.)

As for the rabies vaccine,
The vaccine aims to prevent animals infected to spread the rabies virus. Rabies is also often referred as ‘crazy dog’ disease because once the animal, in this case a dog, is infected they act far more aggressively than usual,

It could be fatal for both pets and humans to have been bit by a rabid animal because unfortunately once the symptoms of rabies has established and have not yet received any treatment (before symptoms appear) for the viral infection, it often leads to death as the virus is known to cause severe damage and inflammation of the nervous system.

Thankfully,
there is a way to prevent these dangerous viruses and by choosing to vaccinate your pet against D-A-P-P and rabies, you are not only protecting them from becoming unwell in the even that they get bit or have contacted with/by a wild animal carrying the diseases, you are also protecting kangirsumiut and other animals that they may come into contact with. 🐶💉🦠

Tukisinatsiasalaurpat, pm me or Harriet if you have any questions. 🙂
