Sa ilalim ng Anti-Rabies Act of 2007 (RA 9482), ang rabis ay isang nakamamatay na sakit pero ito ay 100% naiiwasan sa pamamagitan ng taunang bakuna at responsableng pag-aalaga.

🔴 Kung tumanggi ang may-ari na pabakunahan ang a*ong nakapangagat, siya ang obligadong magbayad sa bakuna ng kanyang a*o at ng taong nakagat.

🦟 Mosquitoes Can Be Deadly for Dogs. Here's why:

👉 Mosquitoes transmit Heartworm Disease. Heartworm is a dangerous and potentially fatal condition caused by a parasite called Dirofilaria immitis. It spreads through mosquito bites, not direct contact with other dogs. Once a dog is bitten, the parasite's larvae move through the bloodstream and grow into long worms that settle in the heart and lungs, causing serious health problems.

🩺 Signs of Heartworm Disease (but usually appear when it’s advanced):

- Persistent coughing
- Fatigue, especially after mild activity
- Weight loss
- Difficulty breathing
- Swollen belly due to fluid buildup
- Sudden collapse or death in severe cases

🚫 Common Household Risks That Attract Mosquitoes:

- Stagnant water in empty containers, flower pots, gutters, tires, or pet bowls left outside.
- Uncovered water drums or pails.
- Dark and damp corners where mosquitoes rest during the day.

✅ How to Reduce Risk:

- Empty stagnant water daily, especially in outdoor containers, plant bases, and gutters.
- Plant mosquito-repelling plants, such as citronella or lemongrass, in your yard.
- Keep dogs indoors during dusk and dawn, when mosquitoes are most active.
- Install screens or mosquito nets if your dog sleeps near windows or doors.
- Give monthly heartworm preventive medication. This is the most important step, even for healthy dogs.

💡 Heartworm prevention is much CHEAPER THAN TREATMENT, which can be risky and expensive once the worms are established in the heart.

🚫 Is Your Dog Eating Kanin at Ulam? Here’s Why That’s Risky 🐶

Feeding dogs our table scraps or leftover rice and viand may seem harmless, but it can actually be dangerous. Here’s why:

⚠️ Too much salt, garlic, or sea*oning (toxic to dogs)

Most Filipino dishes are sea*oned with soy sauce, salt, garlic, onions, or MSG—all of which can be harmful or even toxic to dogs. Garlic and onions, in particular, can damage red blood cells and cause anemia over time.

⚠️ Oily foods can cause pancreatitis

Typical ulam like adobo, sinigang, or fried dishes can be too fatty or spicy for dogs. This can trigger pancreatitis, a painful and potentially life-threatening inflammation of the pancreas.

⚠️ Bones are a choking hazard and cause internal injuries

Cooked bones (especially from chicken or fish) can splinter and cause choking, internal bleeding, or bowel obstructions. This is a common emergency case in local vet clinics.

⚠️ Nutritionally imbalanced which leads to health issues

Rice and ulam don't meet a dog's nutritional needs. Long-term feeding may cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies, poor coat condition, weak bones, or immune system issues.

⚠️ High carbs risk of obesity

Human food portions tend to be too much for dogs. Plus, rice is high in carbohydrates. Over time, this can lead to weight gain and related health problems.

✅ A Better Option for Your Dog:

You can cook safe meals at home using boiled lean meat, vegetables, and rice. Just remember:

🍖 Bland – No salt, garlic, or sea*oning
🦴 Boneless – Never include bones (especially cooked ones)
🥕 Balanced – Use a mix of protein, carbs, and veggies

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘙𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘮?

Ringworm is a fungal infection that affects the skin, hair, and nails. It appears as a red, circular rash on the skin and can be spread through direct contact with an infected cat or contaminated surfaces. Importantly, ringworm can also be transferred to humans!

𝘏𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘙𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘮:

• Regular Vet Check-Ups - Ensure your cat gets routine veterinary exams to catch any signs of ringworm early.

• Maintain Cleanliness - Clean and disinfect your cat’s bedding, toys, and litter box regularly. Wash your hands thoroughly after handling your cat, especially if they have any skin lesions.

• Limit Exposure - Keep your cat indoors to reduce the risk of encountering infected animals. If you have multiple pets, isolate any new or infected pets until they are cleared by a vet.

• Grooming and Hygiene - Regularly groom your cat to check for signs of skin issues. Use antifungal shampoos as recommended by your veterinarian.

• Prompt Treatment - If your cat shows signs of ringworm, seek veterinary care immediately. Follow the treatment plan prescribed by your vet to prevent the spread of infection.

By following these steps, you can keep your cat and your family healthy and happy.

🐶⚠️ Ang inbreeding ay ang proseso ng pag-breed ng mga alagang hayop na magkadugo.

Narito ang ilang mga dahilan kung bakit mahalagang maiwasan ito:

❗ Tumataas ang posibilidad ng mga namamanang sakit.
❗Ang mga alagang hayop na in**ed ay kadalasang may mahinang immune system.
❗Maaring magresulta sa pagkabalisa, agresyon, at iba pang mga problema sa pag-uugali.
❗Ang inbreeding ay maaaring magpaikli ng buhay ng iyong alaga at makaapekto sa kanilang kalidad ng buhay.

Paano maiiwasan ang inbreeding:

✅ Siguraduhing may tamang tala ng pamilya ng iyong alaga.
✅ Piliin ang partner ng iyong alagang hayop na walang kaugnayan sa dugo.
✅ Siguraduhing kumuha ng alagang hayop mula sa mga responsableng breeder na may tamang kasanayan sa pag-breed.

Ang responsableng pag-breed ay susi sa kalusugan at kasiyahan ng ating mga alagang hayop. ❤️

𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘆𝗮 𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘁-𝗞𝗮𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮 𝘀𝗮 𝗜𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝘀𝗼: 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗲!

Naghahanap ka ba ng masustansaya at abot-kayang treat para sa iyong mga alagang a*o? Subukan ang camote (sweet potato)!

Ang camote ay nagbibigay ng mahahalagang bitamina (A, B6, C) na nagtataguyod ng pangkalahatang kalusugan ng iyong a*o. Mataas ito sa fiber na tumutulong sa tamang digestion at regular na pagdumi. Mababa rin ang sodium nito kaya mainam para sa mga a*ong kailangang kontrolin ang sodium intake. Bukod dito, mas mura ang camote kumpara sa mga komersyal na dog treats at simple lang itong lutuin at isama sa diyeta ng iyong a*o.

Mga Payo sa Paghahanda:

- Laging balatan ang camote at lutuin ito (pakuluan, i-bake, o i-steam) para maging ligtas at madaling matunaw ng mga a*o.
- Huwag magdagdag ng asin, asukal, paminta, o pampalasa na maaaring makasama sa mga a*o.
- Iwasan ang sobrang pagpapakain upang maiwasan ang anumang problema sa tiyan.
