How to protect paws on hot pavements:

1. Follow the seven-second rule and check the surface for heat before you leave the house. If you can’t leave your hand on the ground for more than 7 seconds, it’s too hot for them.

2. Keep to natural grass.

3. Walk early in the morning or late in the evening when surfaces are cooler.

What else can I say about Miss Tundra?! She was found abandoned in a backyard last July and she is rapidly putting her past behind her. She is learning to make new dog friends, and she seems to do better with male dogs. Tundra should be in a home without small children and without cats. Once she has warmed up to you she is the ultimate lap dog and she just loves to love you! Tundra is smart, knows her basic commands and is treat motivated. She is easy to walk and she is very affectionate. Tundra is currently available for adoption at Manatee County Animal Services, you can contact them for more information and to make an appointment to meet this amazing dog! If anyone knows anything about this, please help!

INFORMATION NEEDED: MCAS needs the community's help with information about a dog attack which occurred at the beach causeway on Manatee Ave W/SR-64 on Sunday, April 18th between 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. A woman and her 2 leashed, small dogs were attacked by an unleashed, large, black dog. The owners fled the scene with the dog in a Chevrolet HHR. We are searching for any information regarding witnesses to the attack or the identity of the pet owners. Please contact MCAS Officer Dispatch at 941-742-5933 ext. 1 with any details or leads.
