Yesterday I got to choose and bring home my 2023 4-H mustang project. I am looking forward to using what I learned last year with Rango to train this new guy. I haven't chosen a name yet...Marley, Arlo, Trigger and "Jack" Sparrow are in the running. Follow us through the summer to see what we can accomplish.

2 years ago, Spirit stifled and after her procedure had to be stalled with no movement for 8 weeks. This was her 1st time out. I love this video of her because it reminds me of her wild heritage.

This page is all about Rango, but I wanted to introduce you to my other mustang love...Spirit. We adopted spirit as a yearling when I was 6. I spent hours with her and we created a bond that still goes on today. She is my baby and just shows what these mustangs are capable of with time and love.

Rango did soo good on his 1st trimming.

Got all cleaned up and went to town...to the 4-H show. Rango did awesome...he also got to meet new friends like chickens, rabbits, lambs and humans. He took it all in stride like he's done it a million times.

Rango went on the bridge on the 2nd try...then he decided to hang out. Although he loves to go through water so he may never need a bridge🤣

We have been working on trailering this week. This guy is smart...and picks up on new things quickly.

A week ago yesterday I was finally able to put a lead on Rango and touch his face. This was a huge milestone as I have tried so many things to get him to trust me over the last month. In one week he went from no touch to lunging on a lead, leading at a walk and trot, brushing his body, lifting front legs, eating out of my hand (though not pretty), and lots of de-sensitizing work. I am so excited at his progress the last week and I am looking forward to lots of progress to come.
