It's been a while since I've been able to update...I've been sick and then I spent a week back and forth to the vet with Cali and Clover. Both we diagnosed with FIP. They had Dry FIP and both started exhibiting neurological deficits. With fluids, multiple medications and overnight care we were unsuccessful in clearing it up. They were just too small. I can't stress this enough.... PLEASE get your animals fixed! Please get proper vet care as soon as possible for any animal that is out of the norm. This is the worst part of my job.
If you have strays, use the TNR program. It works and it saves lives.

Cat fosters and parents...

We just went through a fun ordeal. There is something going around that lasts about 2 weeks and is affecting cats (doesn't seem to jump to dogs since we have two).

Symptoms include:
Sneezing
Watery eyes
Lethargy
Stuffy then runny nose

It seems to be very common to our version of a cold. No fever has been detected. Lungs remain clear.

I have found that humidifier, steam room (shower with very hot water) for 15 min, wiping noses with warm rag, heating up soft food and plenty of fluids along with the two medications in the picture below work fantastic. Even my smallest little foster fur baby got over it and he was the runt.
I have seen a lot of people posting about it and since we experienced it, I felt like I should share what worked for us. Thankfully I only have one left that's getting over it. By Monday we should be germ free!

So many think that all I do is snuggle kittens all day....and while that's true......here's the dirty side. This baby has kennel cough. We are in our fourth steam room session of the day to clear out his nasal passages. 15 min every few hours. It's not easy by any means....but it's better than the alternative. Hopefully he will get to feeling better soon!

Good morning everyone! After a lot of pondering, research and brainstorming we at Appomattox Neonatal Kitten Clinic have decided to expand our care to ALL kittens and young cats. It has come to our attention that there is a very limited amount of care for young cats and kittens. We will now take newborn to 1 year.

Our rules and such:

**IF you find a litter of kittens, PLEASE try to bring mom is as well**

**DO NOT bring in cats with tipped ears. They are part of a TNR colony and are likely feral. We do not have the capacity to handle feral cats YET.

**We are still very small and have limited space. We will do our best to house, feed and get fixed as many as we can.

**All kittens over 8 weeks will be available for adoption. All will have first shots, spay or neuter and a microchip.**

We are open to any donations including blankets, food, time, and transportation to vet visits when necessary.

For more info please message our page or text at 434-363-2165. NO phone calls!

It breaks my heart to even have to say anything, but there has been a huge influx of people just throwing out kittens with yesterday's trash. If you find yourself with a litter of kittens, please find a place for them...animal shelters (they have fosters!) rescues or just contact me! I have plenty of openings for kittens.
I take babies from a few hours old to 8 weeks.

Kittens deserve to live.... whether you want them or not!

These two cuties are now available for adoption. Stella and Luna are both female, 9 weeks old. They are both litter trained and eating solid food. Luna (the black one) is a bit skittish but is super lovable. Stella is super cuddly and loves to be held. If you are interested, please message me. I will be asking questions to assure you are serious about adopting. These guys will be indoor cats as they have never been outdoors.

We are 8 weeks old today!!! We are now fully weaned from mom and litter box trained! We play allllll the time and have learned to climb and escape the kitten room! We love the pug and could care less about the others. Mom is still protective but she leaves us alone more and more. We keep ourselves entertained 😁

Back R Jack Jr (he looks just like his daddy and is the only male!)

It is with a very heavy heart that I have to announce that Oakleigh and Bear did not make it through the weekend. Fading Kitten Syndrome is real. I spent the entire weekend pushing fluids and trying to get their blood sugar up.
Fading Kitten Syndrome can be from a variety of reasons from birth defects to parasites and everything in between. Sometimes there is just no reason at all. It's also, unfortunately, pretty common in kittens that have been abandoned.
I was blessed to have the little fur balls in my life even for the short time. I hope they knew how much they were loved and will be missed.

This is the part of fostering I hate the most. No matter how much you give, sometimes it's just not enough.

We have graduated from bottle to milk momma. Momma's milk is always best and the fact that my momma cat adopted them makes things easier on all of us! They are in a room with four other kittens so socialization isn't an issue! And yes....they're medically cleared so no diseases will be transferred.

05/05/2024

We have decided on Oakleigh and Bear (no tail). They got their first bath today. Since momma isn't around to bathe them, it's up to me to be momma.... Feed, bathe, and make them potty. Not the most glamours job, but it's worth it!
Pictures to come as they are getting warm and enjoying a full tummy

These little cuties are our newest additions! They were found in a tree in Appomattox. Actually IN a tree..a tree trunk to be exact! I'm still debating on names but there is one without a tail so I think that will be Bobbie 😺. Stay tuned for weekly updates on these little guys!

Found: Appomattox County
Age: Approx 2 days
Male and Female
Mother unknown, assumed to be in Amherst (as where the logs came from)
Both bottle fed
