Beginning of 2023
Sorry human, we know you were worried about us after the storm last night but we just wanted to hang out with the cows. Sorry that you got soaking wet, covered in mud and other things. We weren’t laughing we promise!
Sometimes it takes a village, and I LOVE MINE! Thanks Amanda Dalby and Christina Haley! Christina hauled horses to the playday last night and Amanda used her encouraging personality to get Audrey on Star!
It was Stars first playday to participate in, while it wasn’t perfect but Star, Brandon and Audrey did great job working together.
Cash also did great. I love seeing how far he has come.
Cloud (maybe to be called Pistol) was very upset to be left at home and miss all the fun, but his tiny human (aka Miss Addie) is determined to ride him soon.
Brandon helping Audrey with star. It was so much fun to see them work together and make such good progress
Lots of fun!
We have been busy on the farm, and as always Mom's Facebook skills are lacking. Ms. Star has been working hard, being led around the pen with Brandon and Audrey on her back! We are so excited! Mom even got on Cash while Audrey was gone!
We brought Cloud home on my birthday last week. This horse has been in my heart for a long time and needed to be back with his buddies. We are working on manners with him, and there has been some horse education on which gelding is the boss, but otherwise they are settling in well together.
Star and Cash are visiting friends today!!!! Cash has gotten to come before but the trailer was very scary for Star. She did fantastic loading today, and loved seeing her friends!!
Star has been doing fantastic. She despised the trailer and after taking a gentler approach and lots of patience finally got in. Our next goal is to go visit some friends soon. She also let Audrey get her fully saddled and to sit and take a few steps on her., by using a gentler approach and lots of patience.
Now Cash’s update: He has been working so hard with Audrey. Both are working on their confidence, and it shows. Today they participated in a cowboy challenge at Crossbrand Cowboy Church. They did great together, and even though some of the challenges were scary they didn’t give up.
Thanks to all the family and friends who came by to cheer the girls on!
So many amazing things happening on the farm this week! First a Star update. Lots of people have been working with her and showering her love and attention. Things are still scary but she is letting everyone put the saddle pad on her. Her original, never to be replaced, always loved trainer Timothy Sample, got to sit on her first and took a couple steps. JT got to be led around the corral, and Addie is just dying to get on her!
What’s happening?!? Cash is trotting without any support from anyone else!! It’s a great day! Good job Audrey looking great!!
Sometimes all you need is your friend to help you out. Good job girls!
Today this mama is getting emotional and so proud of her girl! We are at our first play day at Crossbrand Cowboy Church, and Cash is doing incredible. No he wasn’t the fastest horse out there, and had to be led through the poles, but this horse just seven months ago had came out of a kill pen, didn’t trust a human for anything but neglect and hurt, and wouldn’t be touched. Audrey has been working tirelessly with him, and has been riding him for about six weeks. Last week was the first time he had a ”real” saddle on, and not just a ba****ck saddle. And now…this weekend we are at a play day with lots of other horses! I know we have some more training, but seeing how far we’ve come is truly amazing.
Another great day on the farm!
Star hopped in the trailer fairly easily, Goat wrestling by the always impressive Timothy, and a nice two mile walk / ride down the road with friends. (Addie and I walked that whole thing while the others got to ride.)
Today was a great day on the farm! Both horses hit some good milestones and we were able to go on a walk down the road a bit. Only one person stopped to ask why I wasn’t riding Starlite…today wasn’t the day. I don’t think that horse has ever been riden, but she will.
Just smile because we are having so much fun!!!!
Last night was a great night! Lots of friends and horses. Evelynn and Jasmine celebrated their birthday with trail rides! Cash did great with Audrey on his back, and Ms Star led perfectly for Tim! Evelynn was also on her mustang Ava. They were such a good pair. Jasmine and Brandon brought their domestics, Jimmy and Hank. Future goal is all the kids on their mustangs! We even had dirt bike and four wheelers as our escorts.

I can’t believe we’ve had our horses home for over two weeks! They are both doing great. We even got Cash to a play date. He didn’t participate but he did hang out with a lot of other horses and people and was a complete gentleman. Starlite kindly asked not to go that night.
Starlite was out first, but Cash had decided he was done with that trailer. Thankfully he didn’t get far
Loading Starlite to head home!
Words cannot express how excited we are to bring these horses home today! It has been an incredible experience and adventure since April. We have been blessed and blown away by all the support and love we have felt during this entire experience. This experience has been life changing for Audrey, and I as ”Barn Mom” have learned a ton as well. Jennie Rodden Sloan thank you for your dedication to these horses and these kids. You have mentored and encouraged each of us over these last few months. We have been blessed by all that you have done. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for all that you have done. Thank you for helping make this dream come true for Audrey.
Audrey got fifth place in horsemanship and conditioning, first in obstacles and eighth for freestyle. Her best friend Evelyn Haley got grand champion!! So proud of both of the girls!!!

Audrey says this isn’t his best run, but I see so much improvement from the first time she took him over these jumps, so I had to share!
