We would like to advise that our AUGUST trial at Dogland is CANCELLED. We will be running the postponed Eric Tighe Clinic in its place at Sheepdogs on the Cove.. Our July Trial at Sheepdogs on the Cove will be our final trial for 2024

We will be introducing a new class in the July trial..
SUNDAY ONLY
The class will be Open Stockdog pairs.. the cost to enter the pairs is $10 per dog..

An advanced/experienced dog/handler will be paired up with a Level 2 dog/handler.

On the entry form, you will choose if you would like to enter the pairs, and which level you would like to compete at.

Every competitor will go into a draw (hat) a Level 2 competitor will be drawn to pair with an Advanced competitor.. each competitor will run separate, with the same rules pertaining to that particular class..
At the end of each run, the time and scores will be added together..

**Level 1 competitors/dogs are permitted to enter, however please be mindful that the sheep that will be used will be Level 2 sheep..

ERIC THIGHE SCHOOL UPDATE - CANCELLED DUE TO FLOODING IN THE AREA

We have had to make the devastating decision to CANCEL ERIC TIGHE'S SCHOOL AND THE SMALL TRIAL FOR THIS WEEKEND..

After unpredicted rain in and around the Woodford area, causing Stanley River/creek to flood, closing the Woodford Showgrounds for any camping, closing Old Cove Road, and causing Lyndal's Lagoon to rise to flood levels, and due to the unpredictable weather, and with more rain forecast for this afternoon and tonight, before it is supposed to clear..we have had to make the very hard decision to CANCEL Eric's school and trial for the safety of the handlers and dogs..

We thought that running the school would still have been possible if the prediction of showers had been correct, however the overnight deluge in the area, has made the paddocks extremely slippery and muddy and unsafe for handlers, dogs or sheep..

An email has been sent to all participants this morning, informing them of our difficult decision, and requesting they email their bank account details to the Town & Country Stockdog email

[email protected] and a full refund will be arranged..

Once again, apologies, we are devastated..
If we can arrange another Eric school in the future, all original participants in this school, will be given first refusal..

ERIC TIGHE SCHOOL at Sheepdogs on the Cove

Weather forecast is saying showers from Thursday, so the decision has been made to go ahead with the school, please bring appropriate wet weather gear.

Start time 8am, Please be there by 7.30am to get your dog toileted and settled. We have moved the start time forward so to allow everyone adequate working time, especially if the weather is showery.

Camping will be available from Thursday, however with the consistent rain, if you are camping, please contact Lyndal ASAP when you will be arriving, so she can direct you where..

Parking:
Again, the persistent rain has hampered parking down near the lagoon, parking will be on the hill past the house and above the first paddock.. please consider other people when you park, leaving room for crates etc..

There will be a sausage sizzle available for lunch
$2.50 and for those who prefer fish on Good Friday a fish fillet with tatar sauce for $3.50. We will have limited change, so correct change would be greatly appreciated.. an honesty box will be provided..
Morning tea and afternoon tea will be provided.
BYO chair

Just be aware that this is a private property with cattle, horses, and chickens as well as sheep..

Please pick up after your dog and take it with you..

Please note there will be no shower facilities but will be a toilet..

TRIAL ON SUNDAY
because of limited sheep numbers, we only could offer limited runs, so have limited entries for this trail to school participants and committee.. a decision will be made on Friday if we can run this trial, depending on the weather..

A bit about Eric Tighe

Eric lives in Inverell, on the Northern Tablelands of NSW.. and breeds his own line of working border collies, In the early days Eric started out with Kelpies, which are great work dogs and a very useful tool on most stock properties, however he found if working and looking after your stock is a priority then Border Collies seem to be easier on their stock, and much easier to live with day to day. Eric has tried several lines of dogs over time and worked with hundreds of others while running training schools in QLD from 2006 to 2013. The biggest thing is teaching people how to work and understand stock, then bringing a third party into the picture – the dog. It can be very difficult to get the picture right if you do not know what you are even trying to achieve.

As a trainer he is so patient and knowledgeable on how a dog and person need to work together. Eric trained a large number of people in the Brisbane, Kungura, Rathdowney before he moved to Inverell, to pursue their family business, Heal with Ease.

Eric has been quiet in the trialing competitions in Qld, but has been judging short courses at Warwick. He has also done well at the QWSAI short courses.
Eric is a down to earth, easy to understand dog handler who is only too happy to share his time and knowledge. In the recent Working dog spectacular held at Jondaryan QLD, and after not competing for some time, Eric took out

Last weekend we ran our last, well attended trial at Dogland Australia, as well as our AGM.. All the previous committee accepted reelection, and we also welcomed Trevor Fisher onto the committee as well.. Thank you Trevor!
Big thank you to our committee, for all your hard work, Karen, from Dogland who once again had everything organised for us, and to our competitors, not only for supporting us, but jumping in without hesitation to help out in the stockyards.. Thank you to our sponsor, Hypro Premium..

Another successful trial run on the weekend, results in comments..big thanks to Hypro Premium our major sponsor and Dynamic Dogs Unleashed who sponcored our level 1 trial on Saturday, to our Judge for both days Derek Binstead, who not only judged our runs, but offered constructive advice to all handlers to help improve them and thier dogs.. again thanks to our hard working committee who work hard to put these trials together, the stock handlers on both days,, Lyndal and George from Sheepdogs on the Cove who allowed us to use thier property and sheep..and finally the competitors who's support make our trials a success.. hope to see everyone at our final trial for the year at DogLand Australia in August, entries will open next week..

Another great trial last weekend at Dogland Australia. Thanks again to the committee who work so hard to put these trials on, Karen at Dogland Australia, as usual everything was ready for us.. It was wonderful to see some new level 1 competitors on Sunday as well.. many thanks to Penny who stepped into Judge on Sunday, when our Judge unexpectedly took ill..
