A very famous way of knowing the age of a dog is the ratio 1 to 7. In other words, each dog year is considered seven human years. So, a two-year-old puppy would be 14 years old if he were a human.

However, despite being very popular, this way of calculating the age of a dog is nothing but a myth.

So there's no way to calculate the age of a dog? Yes he has. An approximate account to find out your puppy's age is:

Small dog
Multiply the first 2 years by 12.5 (25 years);
Subtract these 2 years from the pet's age, and multiply the remainder by 4.5.
For example, my dog's age (5 years) subtracted 2 years (equals 3 years) and multiplied by 4.5. That will be equal to 13.5 years for small dogs.

Medium sized dog
Multiply the first 2 years by 10.5 (21 years);
Subtract these 2 years from the pet's age, and multiply the remainder by 5.7.

Large dog
Multiply the first 2 years by 9 (18 years);
Subtract these 2 years from the pet's age, and multiply the remainder by 8.
