This is one of the success stories! I had the honor of helping to work with this dog and SAIN volunteers. Thor needed a LOT of time with baby steps, and the patience from humans to let him go at his pace. This makes me so happy to see him being a dog, and getting all the love and attention he deserves. Good boy Thor!

🌟 AMAZING NEWS: THOR HAS BEEN ADOPTED! 🎉

After two years of patient rehabilitation, our beloved Thor has finally found his forever home with the family who took him into foster-to-adopt (his third foster placement)! Remember this handsome Swiss Shepherd from the Skagit County puppy mill rescue? The one some people said might be "too damaged" to rehabilitate? Well, Thor proved them ALL wrong! ❤️

What makes Thor's story particularly powerful is not just his progress, but the dedication of those who stood by him when others might have given up. His journey reminds us that healing from trauma isn't about quick fixes – it's about slow, steady progress built on a foundation of trust, security, and unconditional love. While some may have seen a dog too damaged by his past, we saw a resilient spirit worthy of however long it might take to help him heal.

Now Thor's story enters its brightest chapter yet. The once-frightened mill dog who couldn't bear human touch is now exploring his new home with growing confidence. While his journey of healing continues, he's now doing it in a place he can truly call his own, with people committed to supporting his continued growth.

On this Veterans Day, the thanks of a grateful nation is with all of America’s uniformed servicemembers, past and present, and with their families.

A famous William Harvard quote reads, “The greatest glory of a free-born people is to transmit that freedom to their children.” He is right. And the freedom of which he speaks is only possible because of the brave men and women throughout our history who have answered our country’s call to serve in her defense.

Today is all about those men and women - the ones who have volunteered to give their all, if that is what is asked of them, for our country. And they are supported by families who carry their burden of service with them . Today we honor them and reflect upon the magnitude of what they have given. May we come to give half as much.

It’s a BEAUTIFUL day here in WA state. The sun is shining and the rain stopped. Meet my adorable weekend board and train dog Frankie. She completed a Level 1 group class and is here to sharpen those skills. We are also working on building her confidence around new things (like horses!), no jumping, no mouthing, and adding in some new obedience commands. Good girl Frankie!

This is my daughter (my #1 helper!) about 12 years ago. I love to get everyone in the family involved with training their dog. Children often do much better than their parents because they don’t have any bad habits.

Happy National Cats Day from Pickles and Olive. These two think they run my house. I can say they definitely cause the most trouble! They are also the best distractions for my board and train dogs. Let’s see your cat photos with or without your dogs 😁
