The Fix Foundation and The Friends of the shelter are in the process of interviewing for a couple of positions that will include various jobs. You must have dog and cat handling experience. Our animals are our first priority.
We need someone that is willing to help in any position we need. This person will need to be a cleaner, transporter, vet tech, and work at the shelter. The days and hours will vary depending on which job you are hired for and which job needs to be done. You will be required to work weekends and rotate holidays. If you would like to help transport possibly one day a week, you must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. The animals need to be clean and fed everyday 365 days a year regardless of day or the weather. You also must be able to work with others as well as work independently and pay attention to detail.
This is an entry level position with the pay starting at $8.50 per hour depending on experience could be higher. The days and hours are as follows: Tuesday at 7:30 am until everything is done (usually between 5:30 and 6:00). Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8:30 to 4:30 or 5:00. Sundays and Mondays are 9:00 to 3:00.
You will have to clean dog kennels & cat cages, handle dogs & cats, interact with the public, give medications to the animals, do laundry, wash dishes, sweep and mop the floors, help unloading cat litter, dog & cat food and other donations. These can weigh up to 50 pounds. You will be walking dogs out to potty at least twice a day regardless of the weather when you are at the shelter. There is a lot of bending while cleaning cages.
