New Drop Off Form & Existing Grooming Service Contract
Drop Off Form: We've created a "Drop Off" form so we have up-to-date medical information, changes in grooming routines, etc. With it you can even select a shampoo for the second bath!
This form will be sent via link within the confirmation reminder text. But just in case you don't see it, there's a QR code on the welcome sign by the front door. Just scan the code (usually with the camera app on your phone), and you can complete the form then and there.
Good news! The Grooming Service Contract is going to change to being signed once per year, instead of being sent with every scheduled appointment. There will also be a QR code for this on the welcome sign.
When a Dog's Gotta Go....
Please potty your pets before their grooming appointment. There's a p**p bag dispenser and a trash can by the door. Please only use what you need and tie the bag shut before placing in the trash can. (And if you want to "pack it out" yourself, that's appreciated!)
Running Late?
It's a fact: Treasure Valley traffic is getting worse. If you know you are running late, PLEASE text Grooming by Molly as soon as possible (and safe!).
Late arrivals affect not only Molly but all the clients booked after you. We never want to have to rush the grooming service but if clients are late their service has to be shortened to accommodate the following clients who are on time.
When you let us know you're running late it allows us to complete other tasks, move our lunch break, etc. so we can keep the schedule somewhat on time.

Bright White or Blackening Black shampoos: Remove yellow tones on white dogs with whitening shampoo or remove red tones on black dogs with blackening shampoo. Doodle clients: we're searching out a red-enhancing shampoo just for you!
Crown Royal Conditioning treatment: Add extra softness and shine to your dog's coat with this treatment. Tangles and mats melt away with this conditioner. Add-on service: $5
Crown Royal De-matting spray: Tangles and mats don't stand a chance with this spray, which some say is "the world's best de-matting/brushing spray". A little goes a long way to help make the brushing process a breeze and instantly add shine and softness to any coat. $20 per bottle (take-home item)
Preparing your pet for hotter, drier temperatures this summer.
Since we are technically in a desert here in Boise, specifically the Great Basin Desert, we should expect to have weather like a desert. We should be prepared for extreme dry seasons, hot seasons, rainy seasons, flash floods, any kind of weather that happens in a desert. The National Weather Service predicts another hot, dry year so let's prepare for it!
One: Provide lots of water and shade
Shade provides space that is significantly cooler than in direct sunlight. When it's over 95° limit your pet's outdoor time, and be sure to provide plenty of fresh water, inside and out.
Two: Choose an appropriate hairstyle for your pet's lifestyle.
With hot and dry weather coming in for the summer months, it might not be the best idea to shave down your dog or outdoor cat. Their fur coats are their main source of protection from the elements. The fur helps regulate body temperatures by keeping cooler air closer to the skin and blocking the sun's harmful UV rays. These UV rays are present even if it's cloudy!
For dogs with hair, consider a haircut length of 1/2 inch - 3/4 inch to keep your dog protected and cool this summer.
For dogs with fur, consider regular grooming appointments with thorough de-shedding services.
For outdoor cats, consider regular grooming appointments with thorough de-shedding services. Also ask your groomer about longer haircut lengths for cats. Did you know it's possible to give a cat a haircut the same way as a dog? You just need to find the right groomer.
For dogs that are outside a lot, taking part in outdoor activities (hiking, swimming, camping, etc.) make sure to partake in regular grooming sessions to reduce matting, infections on the skin, infestations of ticks/fleas/lice, and promote healthy skin and immune systems.
Remember, panting is how dogs and cats regulate body temperature and stress. Shaving a dog because he is panting a lot isn't necessarily going to make the dog cooler.
Three: Protect those pads!
Don't be afraid to use booties for dogs during hikes. Your dog might not like them at first, but they will definitely appreciate not having hot paw pads.
Use a paw balm to restore moisture back into the pad, especially if there are signs of cracks and extreme dryness.

Spring is here! That means warmer weather and sunshine: more outdoor activities.
Let's get outside this spring and enjoy our beautiful city and surrounding natural areas.
Here are four hikes to do with your dog, starting with easy and increasing with difficulty.
1. Hyatt Hidden Lakes Reserve Trail (1.5 miles, easy)

Remember your trail etiquette.
1. Always pick up after your dog. Carry an extra roll of bags just in case. (Rolls are only a dollar at Grooming by Molly!)
2. Practice good walking with a slack leash.
3. Practice emergency recalls frequently during your hike.
4. Have plenty of water before, during and after a walk.
5. Let faster people pass: move to the side trail and have your dog sit calmly until after they have gone ahead.
6. Dogs need to ease back into exercise, just like people. Watch for signs of exhaustion and tiredness. You don't want to have to carry your dog out when you're two miles from your car!

A note about bandanas:
We probably won't have many bandanas available for a little bit due to time and space constraints. As many of you know, we doing major cleaning, organizing and purging of every space in the house. Thus, time for bandanas is more limited than usual.
Payment updates:
We will no longer be sending Venmo payment requests. You can still pay via Venmo but the payment needs to be sent the same day as the appointment. An invoice will be sent in place of a Venmo request. The invoice will include a description of the service and a break down of the prices.
Starting April 1st, 2022, PayPal payments will be charged a service fee.
Grooming Contract Updates:
The Grooming Contract is going to paper format. You will be required to sign the full copy once. Amendments to the contract will be written on their own and given to everyone at the next grooming service. We are adding an appointment based contract that will be filled out at the beginning of each appointment. In this contract, you will describe the desired groom, inform us of any new medical information, choose shampoos/conditioners/shoppable items, etc.
Booking Updates:
The booking software that we are using is going to change very soon. Watch for a follow up email on how to book appointments online, what may or may not happen to your currently scheduled appointment, and any other immediate updates at Grooming by Molly.

FLEA, TICK, and LICE SEASON
Yes, it is that time again! These creepy crawlies are starting to hatch and emerge from their winter hibernation.
Please, let Molly know if you have been hiking or swimming in areas that are known to have fleas, ticks or lice. If you suspect fleas, ticks, and/or lice please let us know before your appointment so that we can take the necessary steps to eliminate the pests.
Just a Reminder: there is an extra charge for re-bathing in the case that fleas, ticks and/or lice are found during the grooming process.
General Updates
COVID Updates: With the rapid spread of this virus going through our schools and community, Molly will be wearing a mask throughout the entirety of grooming appointments and during interactions with people. Most interactions will take place outside and are usually less than 5 minutes long. We ask that you do what you feel is best for your health; just be safe.
Cat Grooming: cat grooming services and times are still in the works. Updates to come soon on groomingbymolly.com, Instagram, Facebook and via email.
Boarding (The Regal Canine Resort): We are excited to add boarding to our list of services offered. We can watch up to 3 small dogs at one time. Due to space we are limited to dogs smaller than 30 pounds and under 14" at the withers. All dogs that are boarded with us need to be current on all core and lifestyle vaccines. Vaccination records must be sent to [email protected] before booking for boarding.
*Drop off time is between 8:45-9:30am.
*Pick up times can be scheduled throughout the day but needs to be before 6pm.
*Food and feeding instructions need to be provided. Extra food is recommended. Your dog's kennel and bed is highly recommended.
*Leash and collar are required.

Weekly (7 days): $200
Monthly (30 days): $700, includes one grooming service.

What is new in January 2022?
Artero Cosmetics Professional Line
We are so excited to be starting out 2022 with this luxury line of shampoo and conditioners.
The Hidratante shampoo will be the main shampoo for the second bath. It is wonderful for adding extra moisture and nourishment back into skin and coat. We will also have the Vitalizante (for added volume), Detox ( for removing toxins from the skin and coat), and Relax (for calming and soothing sensitive skin).
We will also be bringing on four of the conditioning treatments for the perfect spa experience. They are the Keratin Conditioner and the Protein Conditioner (for extra shine and softness), the Spa Mask (for added moisture and nourishment), and the Detox Mask (perfect for added detox effects for the skin and coat).
When used regularly, the skin and coat will be restored to a healthy state. We hope you notice and love the difference as much as we do!
Teeth Cleaning Services
PlaqCleanse has made a wonderful three-step system that is effective in loosening and softening plaque build-up for easier removal. We are ecstatic to be able to offer this system as an add-on service at your appointments.
Immediately, you will notice an improvement in smell. With continual use, your pup's smile will be cleaner and healthier.
We will have the Sentry Petrodex Enzyme toothpaste and breath freshener for sale in our shop and online. You can add shoppable items to your appointment when you book, under "shoppables."
De-matting Services
We have found the perfect combination of conditioners and techniques to help undo tight matting. We are offering full body de-matting, just the head, just the tail, or "general" de-matting for areas that are not listed.
For de-matting and a haircut, please book for both services so that we have time for your dog and the other dogs booked that day.
*Please note: not all dogs will tolerate being brushed out. Not all matts will be able to be brushed out.
What is Changing in January 2022?
Loyalty Program and Rebook & Save Discount
The Loyalty Program was not as popular as we'd hoped and is cumbersome at check out. Therefore, the last day for point accrual is 12/31/21. Those of you that have 6-10 points will be rewarded your 50% off one service at your next 2022 visit.
The Rebook & Save Discount continues on but appointments must be made at pick-up or same day online in order to receive the discount.
Monthly Upgrade
Reminder: the monthly upgrade option ends this month. Instead, $1 from every groom will be donated to a different rescue organization each month. We will still make the donation in honor of a pet when we can. Toys, bandanas, and treats are available for purchase.

The temperatures are cooling down! Does this mean that your dog should get a longer haircut? Not necessarily.
Dogs will grow a thicker undercoat to help keep them warm. Even dogs with "hair" will get a thicker undercoat this fall and winter.
Let's prepare for rain and snow! What is the best way to keep your pooch's feet from matting after a jaunt in the rain or snow? The answer is really simple. I promise.
COMBING!!!! Combing the legs and feet after getting wet is the best way to remove debris, snow balls, excess water, and prevent mats and tangles. The comb should be your best friend to maintaining a great coat on your dog (and cat).

Shampoos and equipment are increasing in price, there will be an increase in price in 2022.
This will include:
1. Artero Cosmetics Shampoo line: this line has many beneficial properties for both the skin and fur.
2. Donations: $1 from every dog groom will be donated to the Idaho Humane Society and $5 from cat grooms will be to Simply Cats.
3. Bandanas: every dog will get a bandana at every groom.
Tipping: thank you for your support, I really appreciated it. While the tipping option is deactivated in our booking platform, if you wish to tip you're welcome to do so via cash or Venmo.
Monthly Upgrade:
I am switching to the Artero Cosmetics line as my main line, so everyone will benefit! No need to select a monthly upgrade in 2022.

Important Things to Note:
I am so excited to announce that my space upgrades were successful and I will be able to continue to do afternoon appointments. Last appointment is at 4pm (small/medium dogs) or 3pm (large/extra large dogs).
There are several more upgrades coming up within the next few months. In order to get things done faster, I may need to close an extra day. Please bear with me while these exciting changes are underway.

With the increasing temperatures, I am restricting afternoon appointments.

Here is a general guideline to help you figure out the best routine for you and your pet.
Variables to keep in mind
1. Life Style. Are you active, do you take your dog hiking? Do you go swimming with your dog? Is your dog/cat outside for long periods of time?
2. What style and coat length do you like to have for your pet?
3. How much time do you want to devote to at home maintenance?
Keeping all your answers in mind, here is my simplified answer.
Appointments every 2-4 for the more active lifestyle.
With professional grooming this frequent, things like ticks, fleas, or lice can be found and combated before they turn into an infestation.
Skin conditions from swimming can be seen and treated faster.
Ear infections can be treated faster.
Not to mention having a clean dog is always nice.
Longer styles need more maintenance than shorter styles. Having a professional condition the coat, dry the coat and brush the coat will help keep the longer styles intact.
Appointments every 4-6 weeks:
This is where I like to keep my pets on their grooming schedules. It keeps them clean and soft. The breeds that blow coat or shed actively will benefit from this time frame greatly.
This time frame is perfect for those pets that are less active or have a medium-long hairstyle.
Puppies and elderly dogs will benefit from this time frame.
Appointments every 6-8 weeks:
This is perfect for the medium-short styles or short coated breeds.
Appointments every 8-10 weeks:
This is typically used for super short styles or those that are not very active.
Appointments longer than 10 weeks:
This is not recommended because the dog or cat will not learn to properly tolerate the grooming process.
Alternating Bath & Brush and Haircut appointments is a great option to help maintain the coat and style.
Every 2 weeks: check the nails and ears.
Nail Trims are $5 and 100% gets donated. Yes, an appointment is required.
