With the generous support of our corporate and individual donors, The Fuzzy Pet Foundation (TFPF) recently donated over $10,000 worth of our children’s books to schools across Los Angeles County. The students enjoyed our books so much that one of the schools invited us back to speak at their College and Career Day—where I had the chance to share not only TFPF’s mission, but also my personal journey through college, graduate school, and my work as an attorney, author, and animal advocate dedicated to spreading empathy and helping animals in need.

UPDATE: SamSam has been adopted! 🎉

SamSam is a charming one-year-old Maltese mix with a heart full of love and resilience. Rescued by The Fuzzy Pet Foundation (TFPF) from a severe hoarding situation, his early life was marked by neglect—many nights, he went to bed hungry and endured scorching heat without shelter. Despite his difficult past, SamSam’s spirit remains unbroken, and he is now ready to find the forever home he deserves.

SamSam adores human affection and loves being held. He bonds quickly with his people, thriving on love and attention. Playful and full of energy, he enjoys his toys, excels on leash walks, and is an intelligent little pup who will alert you when strangers are near. In the home, he is calm, incredibly loyal, and happiest when following his loved ones from room to room.

Weighing around 15 pounds, SamSam has a wonderful personality and an adventurous spirit. He gets along well with other cats and dogs. To ensure his comfort, we are seeking a home without young, rambunctious children who might startle or overwhelm him. We prefer adopters with a strong history of excellent veterinary and grooming care for their pets.

SamSam is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and in excellent health. He has transformed from a neglected pup into a joyful, affectionate companion who is eager to bring happiness to a loving family.

TFPF and our adopters will move mountains for our precious animals. 💛🐾

In 2018, TFPF rescued Chewie, a Yorkie, from a backyard breeder who surrendered her, calling her “sickly” and “un-sellable.” Soon after, we discovered she had a serious liver condition that required complex liver shunt surgery—expertly performed by specialists at the UC Davis Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital.

Today, years later, Chewie is happy, healthy, and thriving in her forever home. She even has a new sister—Chingoo, a sweet Pug mix whose name means “friend” in Korean—also adopted from TFPF just last year.

UPDATE: Meringue (now Kuro-chan!) has been adopted! 🎉

Meringue, a breathtakingly beautiful 5-6-month-old flame-point kitten with mesmerizing blue eyes and a luxuriously fluffy coat. Behind his stunning appearance is a story of survival and resilience.

Meringue and his siblings were found near a fast-food dumpster after a cruel act took the lives of two littermates. A young homeless man had thrown them against a wall, leaving Meringue and two others barely clinging to life. The Fuzzy Pet Foundation (TFPF) rescued them, giving them a second chance at happiness.

Once a fragile kitten with a painful eye injury, Meringue has blossomed into a confident, affectionate, and joyful little soul. He adores people, enjoys curling up in laps, and thrives with feline companions. While he hasn’t been around dogs, his calm nature suggests he’d do well with a cat-friendly pup.

Meringue will need regular brushing to keep his coat looking its best, and he’d do best in a gentle, loving home without rambunctious young children. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and FIV/FeLV negative.

UPDATE: Birdie (now Penny!) has been adopted! 🎉

Birdie is a sweet nine-month-old Terrier girl with a story that will touch your heart. She came from a very neglectful home where numerous animals were collected but not properly cared for or given necessary vet treatment. Her previous owners would let her roam the streets until midnight, exposing her to outdoor dangers and leaving her vulnerable.

When we rescued Birdie, she was uncertain and her tan fur was covered in dirt and f***s. Her little paws were raw from walking on rough pavements, and her eyes showed a deep sadness that spoke of her difficult past. It took us a couple of months of tender care, nutritious food, and medical treatment to nurse her back to health.

Now, Birdie is a transformed pup, full of life and joy. She has a happy and affectionate nature, loving nothing more than cuddling up to her humans. Birdie is very playful, loves toys, and enjoys doing zoomies around the yard. She can run very fast, and her favorite pastime is squeaking her toys and exploring her surroundings. She loves humans and does well with other dogs. We have not yet tested her around cats, but she does not have a mean bone in her body.

Birdie is also incredibly sweet and has a special charm that captivates everyone she meets. She enjoys yummy treats and always looks forward to snack time. Our vets are mesmerized by her loving temperament and resilience.

Birdie is looking for a responsible and loving home where she can continue to thrive. While she gets along well with everyone, we prefer to place her in a home without rambunctious young children who might startle or injure her.

Birdie weighs 10 pounds. She is now spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and has a clean bill of health. She is ready to start a new chapter of her life with a family who will cherish and love her forever.

Gracie’s journey hasn’t been an easy one—she was cruelly thrown from a moving van onto train tracks, alongside another dog, left to fend for herself. But this brave little soul refused to give up. Thanks to the kindness of a Good Samaritan who rescued her and brought her to The Fuzzy Pet Foundation (TFPF), Gracie has discovered safety, love, and a new lease on life.

Now, Gracie is ready to write her next chapter with a family who will cherish her as much as she deserves. Despite her heartbreaking start, Gracie’s zest for life is contagious. She adores running zoomies, chasing toys, and wrestling with dogs her size. She lives for her daily walks and loves exploring the world by your side. Farewell, Sweet Bomi – A Life Transformed with Love 🌸🐾

Some stories stay with us forever, and Bomi’s is one of them.

Her name, Bomi, comes from the Korean word "Bom," meaning "spring"—a symbol of renewal, hope, and new beginnings. And that’s exactly what she found when she was rescued.

In 2014, The Fuzzy Pet Foundation (TFPF) answered a desperate plea from South Korean rescue group CARE about a Jindo mix who had endured unimaginable cruelty in the dog meat trade. Bomi had been chained to a pole, covered in sores, and suffering from severe mange. Her chain was so short that she couldn’t even reach the doghouse nearby for shelter. Nearby, her young puppies lay frozen in the dirt, never given a chance at life.

When Bomi was rescued and flown to California, she was timid, fragile, and unsure of the world. But thanks to Team TFPF and our incredible veterinary team, Bomi slowly began to trust humans again. And when Mark and Teresa opened their hearts and home to her, she finally knew love, safety, and peace.

For nearly a decade, Bomi flourished under their care—snuggling in soft beds, feeling the warmth of gentle hands, and exploring the world with curiosity and joy. She left behind the horrors of her past and embraced the love of a true forever family.

Now, Bomi has crossed the rainbow bridge. Our hearts ache, but we take comfort in knowing that she left this world not as a forgotten soul, but as a cherished companion.

Mark and Teresa, you gave Bomi the springtime she never had before. You turned her pain into love, her fear into trust, and her past into a memory overshadowed by joy. You made up for all the suffering she once knew, and we know she left this world feeling safe, treasured, and deeply loved.

💔 Help Us Bring Hope After the California Wildfires 💔

The California wildfires have hit close to home for us at The Fuzzy Pet Foundation (TFPF). Many of our adopters and volunteers have had to evacuate with their beloved pets, and some have lost their homes entirely.

🐾 We’re taking in more homeless cats and dogs than ever before to free up shelters so they can focus on injured and displaced pets and wildlife.

📚 We’re also donating children’s books from our inventory to kids affected by the fires. These books, like Hattie’s Earthly Adventure, teach kindness, empathy, and respect for animals—values that are more important than ever right now.
