Exciting News from Five Pines Miniature American Shepherds!

We are thrilled to announce the newest addition to our breeding program - AKC CH Moonbaby’s Vindication, “Triumph”!

This stunning girl comes from a truly exceptional pedigree and possesses everything we strive for in our program. With outstanding movement, impeccable conformation and a sweet, gentle temperament, Triumph is the perfect blend of beauty, talent and heart.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Melissa Zobell for entrusting us with this incredible girl. We look forward to the legacy she will create in the beautiful litters that will follow.

The Miniature American Shepherds of Canada breed club is proud to be hosting its first CKC Conformation Sanction Match on route to being able to host National Specialties as the official breed club in Canada.

Sharing for a friend. This lovely boy is an old soul who is going to make someone a great companion.

UPDATE: Kevin has found his new home.

I made the extremely hard call to place Kevin. He is officially looking for a new house of his own. In an ideal world he is kept intact (not neutered) so that I have the opportunity to use him in my breeding program moving forward.

DOB August 8 2024 (currently 5.5 months and up to date on vaccinations)

Kevin is the goofiest little guy who likes to grin at you and bend himself in half with excitement. He literally cannot stop moving his bum when he’s happy and excited. At the same time, he acts like an old man. He’s most happy when sleeping on the couch with the sun beaming in on him. He often chooses to stay inside and sleep or cuddle when the other dogs go outside. He really is a family man and would complete any household perfectly. He sleeps in his crate at night and is at the tail end of potty training (only makes mistakes when I don’t catch his signs to go out). This is really hard for me to do because I am in ABSOLUTE LOVE with Kevin, but I know in the long run I do not want to have a male in the house with his mother and sister for which reasons I’m sure you can piece together.

It is with grateful hearts that Keith and I would like to announce our pending retirement from breeding European-quality German Riding Ponies in Canada. We will have one rising 3-year-old available once lightly backed in Spring 2025; everyone else has been spoken for.

We wouldn’t have enjoyed nearly the level of success we did without our incredible team of clients and supporters; particularly our friends at Rabbit Hill Training & Sales and Keystone Farms, as well as our Vice President of Transportation, Jim Enborg.

We look forward to focusing exclusively on our Miniature American Shepherd program moving forward. It’s been our experience that many of the same principles of structure, movement, soundness and temperament apply whether one is looking to create great horses or great dogs.

We’re thrilled to begin this new adventure and would be honoured if you’d join us.

The Miniature American Shepherd is a small size herding dog that originated in the United States. This highly versatile, energetic dog makes an excellent athlete with superior intelligence and a willingness to please those to whom he is devoted.

Are you interested in this breed? The OFA, working with the Miniature American Shepherd Club of the USA, recommends the following basic health screening tests for all breeding stock:
- Hip Dysplasia (OFA, FCI or PennHip)
- ACVO Eye Exam
- Progressive retinal atrophy (prcd PRA)
- MDR1
- HSF4 (Hereditary Cataracts)
- NAD (Neuroaxonal Dystrophy)
Optional but recommended:
- Elbow Dysplasia
- Patellar Luxation
- Dentition
- CEA (Collie eye anomaly)
- DM (Degenerative myelopathy)
- CDDY/CDPA (Chondodystrophy with or without chondrodysplasia)
- CMR1 (Canine multifocal retinopathy)
- HU (Hyperuricosuria)

Dogs meeting these basic health screening requirements are issued Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) numbers. For potential puppy buyers, CHIC certification is a good indicator the breeder responsibly factors good health into their selection criteria.
