Are you waiting on your own special delivery from Santa?

Charlotte was the pick of her litter and was held back as a prospect for our breeding program from 2024 Riddick X Bailey litter (AKC CH CKC GCH Bold Legends Chronicles of Riddick X CKC GCH Headline’s Poester Child).

We always knew she was one in a million, but we weren’t expecting this!

Charlotte has what’s called a Gemini Tooth - a tooth with two crowns but only one root. It doesn’t impact her in the slightest but unfortunately does mean she’s not suited to a breeding career.

She will be five months old just a few days after Christmas and has had all of her shots and only the best care and nutrition. She gets along well with dogs and cats and although she hasn’t had much exposure to children, she’s a very congenial girl and we wouldn’t anticipate any difficulties. She loves to play and is food motivated but also wants to please and be near her people, so when it’s time to settle in on the couch she has a great off switch.

The Miniature American Shepherd is a small size herding dog that originated in the United States. This highly versatile, energetic dog makes an excellent athlete with superior intelligence and a willingness to please those to whom he is devoted.

Are you interested in this breed? The OFA, working with the Miniature American Shepherd Club of the USA, recommends the following basic health screening tests for all breeding stock:
- Hip Dysplasia (OFA, FCI or PennHip)
- ACVO Eye Exam
- Progressive retinal atrophy (prcd PRA)
- MDR1
- HSF4 (Hereditary Cataracts)
- NAD (Neuroaxonal Dystrophy)
Optional but recommended:
- Elbow Dysplasia
- Patellar Luxation
- Dentition
- CEA (Collie eye anomaly)
- DM (Degenerative myelopathy)
- CDDY/CDPA (Chondodystrophy with or without chondrodysplasia)
- CMR1 (Canine multifocal retinopathy)
- HU (Hyperuricosuria)

Dogs meeting these basic health screening requirements are issued Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) numbers. For potential puppy buyers, CHIC certification is a good indicator the breeder responsibly factors good health into their selection criteria.

We had the pleasure of presenting Five Pines Carolina Chrome, our 2024 Cosmeo X Black Dancer German Riding Pony c**t, at the Oldenburg Horse Breeders' Society and Weser-Ems Ponies inspection at Keystone Farms yesterday. Our thanks to Rabbit Hill Training & Sales for showing him off at his absolute best, Jasmine Heinlein Photography for capturing it all on camera and to the inspectors for awarding him Premium status.
