Wow what an early morning it was here; but it was fabulous. We are all awake early as we got a chance to make some noise whilst Niki spoke to Jamie and Amanda on Heart Radio this morning about us and the parrot rescue. I went a bit shy and didn't shout Hello as I normally do, but Joey the African Grey, decided he wanted to meow like a cat - so embarrassing! We have Heart Radio on every day and sometimes dance along to the music. We hope you enjoy it too.

The Parrot Society was formed over fifty years ago by a group of enthusiasts breeding parrots & parakeets, and wishing to meet to exchange information and birds. Since that time it has grown and evolved to encompass all aspects of parrot care and keeping. While there is still a core membership of hobbyist breeders, the group (now Parrot Society U.K.) also reaches out to traders, pet parrot keepers, veterinarians and researchers, as well as conservationists. While captive breeding and exchange of offspring are still important, so are education and conservation. Since registering as a charity in 1975, PSUK is obliged to publish information and provide advice, as well as raising money for conservation projects. Many parrot species worldwide are under serious threat as a result of habitat loss, human interference and illegal trade. The Parrot Society has supported a number of successful projects to both raise awareness of this problem and to assist in reversing the downward trend of population numbers. Such action will continue to be an important part of the Society’s activities, as well as disseminating general advice on the nutrition and care of these fascinating, long-lived and wonderful birds.

Introducing Nigel

He is a Lessor Sulphur Crested Cockatoo 👀 🏡

He has shown a very strong female preference, he will need to be the only bird in the household with no small children, Nigel doesn’t like competition to his “person”

Nigel is very vocal, extremely loving and attentive if your his girlfriend, he loves his food and if your lucky he will help with clean the dishes in the kitchen.
