When Brian and I started Backcountry Doodles we knew that helping others is what we wanted to do. We were looking for an opportunity to serve and donate as part of our business plan. When this sweet family called we knew we wanted to help. This is Daxs new puppy! We felt so good about donating this puppy to help him out. These dogs are such amazing pets and I know this will benefit him. We can’t wait to watch them on their journey together.
His mom sent this:
Dax has 7q11.23 Duplication Syndrome. It is a chromosomal abnormality with a variety of neurological and behavior differences. Symptoms that Dax experiences are motor, sp*ech, and language delay, low muscle tone, heart defects, and visual impairments.
Dax is only 2.5 years old, and it's a little early to tell how his syndrome will affect him behaviorally or emotionally. Those with the disorder often present with aggression, ADHD, oppositional and social anxiety disorders and are on the autism spectrum. Pip's friendship will significantly benefit Dax and provide the companion he needs to help him throughout his life's journey.
Pip has been in our home for 2 weeks, and such a sweet bond between these two has already developed. Pip is very much attached to Dax's hip and loves chasing him around the house as they run around together. Dax loves petting, playing, and snuggling Pip. To hear Dax belly laugh while they play is music to my momma's ears. Pip will be registered as an emotional support animal and undergo therapy training to be a close companion and friend to Dax as he grows up.
We are incredibly grateful to the Brain Michelle Holt Family and Backcountry Doodles for Pip. We couldn't have asked for a better family to join us in this adventure, and we would recommend them a 1000x over!!!
