HUGE congrats to Katelyn Spooner and Flick (Spoon x Ariat) for their performance at the 2024 NADD Nationals! Flick was 1st in Air Retrieve (Junior) and 8th in Hydrodash (Senior)!! I couldn’t be more thrilled with how these two have done in every single thing they’ve done together!

I don’t know if I could be more proud of Kite after the weekend. We at 303 Disc Dogs held our first UpDog event this weekend, which was amazing! Kite pulled out some of the best freestyle of our lives, with some incredible scores. She was rock solid in all her games as well, with a few very comical moments too, and also being dubbed “the robot dog” for how incredible she is in frizgility. Huge thanks, as always, to Jenelle for pictures! I am so thrilled with how the event went, from an organizers perspective but also as a competitor. I’ve never felt so in sync with her, and it’s definitely the most fun and relaxed we’ve ever had and been on the field. Every single time i step on a field with this dog, I feel so incredibly lucky - she absolutely always gives me wings.

We had an absolute blast at the K9 Frisbee Worldwide League World Finals yesterday. It definitely wasn’t Kite and I’s day, but she was just about foot perfect suffering from my bad throws. She finished 12th in master at our regional. Our huge win of the day was her making friends with many people, absolutely falling in love with Chili Dog, and just being the most relaxed and social she’s ever been at a busy event! Hopefully I got all my bad throws out of the way before our last CDD event of the season next weekend. Another huge highlight was getting to see how far Jenelle and Rivka have come, finishing first in the handler division! They’ve grown so much and I feel so lucky to be a part of their journey! Congrats to all the placing teams and to everyone who stepped onto the field to have an absolute blast with their dogs!

Big Changes are coming. And big changes are scary. But big changes can also mean Big Hope, Big Growth, and Big Progress. November 14th I will be undergoing a right leg below the knee amputation to improve my function, mobility and pain. My surgeon said it was time, and feels that by UPDIF I should be starting to play freestyle on two legs, which would be beyond incredible. It’s scary. It’s daunting. It’s exciting what doors it may open up for me mobility and performance wise. The next two months are crazy with events, competing and hosting, and I’ve already received permission to play at least toss and fetch as soon as I get home, so the winter will be full too, prepping for UPDIF and hopefully an incredible 2025 - and whatever the year brings, big wins or small, I’m doing it with the best dogs, friends, support network and chosen family possible. Onwards and upwards.

HUGE thanks to Jenelle for these awesome shots from the Marley Matchup with CDD in the springs. It was an…eventful event, with some mishaps but Kite was incredible and finished 4th in a very competitive open combined division, and I couldn’t be more thrilled with her!

A few days late, but here’s our Thorntonfest and Hero Cup recap! Firstly…NO RAIN! That is a huge win this season 😂 Kite was absolutely *on* and we had one of our best days ever. First time we’ve made a top 10 cut at a big qualifier, and what shocked me was not just in open, but also in advanced toss and fetch! We ended up in 9th in open and 10th in toss and fetch, and I’m beyond thrilled. I threw my elbow out twice which definitely impacted my scores, but never did I think I’d make a cut in toss and fetch. Ever. Justin did his second freestyle with Spoon and while it wasn’t their best, I’m pretty sure they DID have the most fun on the field. Sunday came way too quickly, and we were all exhausted, but for long distance I hand the dogs off and just watch! Dani ended up running Spoon in Women’s Open, and Katherine ran Kite in women’s pro. The wind wasn’t their friend and the K’s finished a very respectable fifth, but the upset of the day was Dani and Spoon, snagging 3rd in a very competitive women’s open their first time playing together (and Spoons first ever distance event). Huge thanks to Jenelle for some amazing photos! Stunning discs custom dyed by Dip-N-Dye Designs: Dyed Discs for Dogs!

We had an absolutely amazing time at Nebraska Disc Dogs Skyhoundz Discdogathon this weekend in Omaha. It was a hugely busy and FUN weekend! We had a great 4th place finish in freestyle against some truly amazing teams (and Justin’s freestyle debut!), 5th in Pairs DA, 8th and a personal best in Spot Landing, and decent placings in the other games (let’s not talk about time trial 🤣 I goofed!), then some time on sheep and cattle, ending with Kite doing her hip and elbow Ofa’s before heading home mid morning. Just got home, and definitely glad to stretch out and relax! Huge thanks to Andrew, Erin and Alycia for an amazing event, Tony Kelso for his lovely comments and help to Justin learning about judging (and judging freestyle!), Courtanie for photography that I can’t wait to see, and everyone else! And many many thanks to Jennafer for hospitality, stock, laughs and fun with the puppies as always. Ready for a few days break before AWI Qualifier @ Thorntonfest this weekend!
