What happens you wear yellow to signal your dog is anxious 💛
Today is day and while Patch isn’t anxious, as founder Sarah My Anxious Dog UK
is a friend and someone we’ve followed for nearly 5 years now, I wanted to see what it might be like to use her products to see how other owners and dogs responded.
Here’s how we got on…
Dog Walker number one smiled and moved to the opposite side of the path with her on lead dog.
Dog Walker number two saw the yellow and called his dog back.
Dog Walker number three didn’t notice the yellow and her dog approached Patch and sniffed him.
Dog Walker number four called her dog away and said: “come on, he’s got a sign with anxious so he wants to be left alone.” She smiled and was warm and friendly.
Dog Walker number five moved to the other side of the path and picked up her off lead dog when she saw the yellow and smiled and said hello.
Dog Walker number six saw the yellow and called her dogs to her side as we walked towards her.
Dog Walker number seven saw the yellow and said ‘just to warn you, my dogs a barker!’
This is huge progress to see, and while it did feel a bit strange putting yellow on Patch, I wanted to try to see what it might be like for people whose dogs need that space.
Apart from one lady, people we encountered DID respond to the yellow.
So the work Sarah and the many people standing up for shy and nervous dogs IS making a difference.
Please support dogs in yellow today, share a post, raise awareness, give them space.
