Have you ever been to an agility trial? If you're interested in trialing in the future but not quite ready to compete yet, going to a trial as a spectator can be a valuable experience. You'll learn about the different classes, ring procedure, and can even volunteer to help jump set or build courses. You may even see your agility instructor run their own dogs!

There are a few agility trials coming up at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont in the next two months:
AKC Greater Denver Area Cocker Spaniel Club on Dec. 21 + 22
UKI Front Range Agility Club on Jan. 11 + 12
AKC Denver Samoyed Association, Inc. on Jan. 18 + 19

Want to join ASDT canine conditioning classes but live further south? Kirsten Belinsky, CPDT-KA, CSCC will be offering a limited amount of conditioning classes at a private residence in Lakewood on Thursday mornings in December. Sessions are 3 weeks, $135/dog. Cross streets are S Sheridan and W Mississippi, exact location will be sent upon sign up! No experience necessary, but if you have canine conditioning experience, we can tailor the class or group specific experience levels together.

Howdy all! We have two spots left in our Novice/Intermediate Rally class beginning on Monday, Dec. 2 at 4:00pm. Class will run for three weeks, and you can do the course or break it down. We'll also take time to learn signs from the more advanced levels. $105/dog

Client spotlight: Meet Mimi the Toller! (Featuring special guest, Tide the Border Collie). Mimi has been working with ASDT trainer Kirsten since March this year and has learned countless skills. From recall to free shaping to canine conditioning foundations and agility, Mimi has taken all of her training in stride. Good girl, Mimi!

Interested in getting your dog started in rally obedience? ASDT trainer and rally instructor, Jae Thomas, wrote a guide to getting started in the sport! Check it out for tips on how to train rally skills, how to find and enter trials, and more.

Rally obedience is a canine sport that uses a course of signs and instructions to test your dog's training and your communication skills.

Did you know that the dog industry in the U.S. tends to market toys to humans, not dogs? Many of the dog toys available at popular pet stores aren’t actually ideal for playing with your dog!

ASDT trainers Jae and Kirsten look for options from dog sport brands (like Clean Run) when shopping for toys. We especially love tug toys with real fur and toys on long handles or strings, since they get dogs excited to play.

Client spotlight: Meet Otter!

This handsome pup and his parents are working with ASDT trainer, Jae, on socialization and puppy basics. Otter is doing great with recall foundations, behavior offering, and desensitization to a variety of stimuli. We’re enjoying watching this happy guy grow up. Good boy, Otter!

Do you play with your dog? According to ASDT owner and trainer, Kirsten, “Play is a big relationship builder and is an often overlooked outlet of dog training. It’s not only a physical and mental outlet for your dog, you can also teach boundaries which will help you with training in high states of arousal.”

Kirsten recommends that if you only have time for a walk or a play session, to choose the play session!

Only 2 spots left! Join Kirsten Belinsky (Certified Canine Strength and Conditioning Coach) for an introduction to Canine Conditioning. The workshop is on Oct. 26 from 1pm-2:30pm and costs $65 per dog and human team.

You'll learn introductory exercises, the benefits/uses of canine conditioning, and attendees of the workshop will also gain access to ASDT's Canine Conditioning drop-in classes to continue their skills.
