This male Iguana was dropped off at our facility about a week ago. He was extremely dehydrated and skinny with no history. We finally managed to get him to the vet for a check-up and because of a lump in his belly that was a huge concern for us. He was examined at The Birds and Exotic animal hospital in Onderstepoort.
He was diagnosed with the biggest bladder stone the doctor has seen. Due to the shocking and heartbreaking news we received, we are now left with two options. Doctors can operate and remove the stone which could ultimately save his life and he could live a happy and healthy long life further or unfortunately put him down.
The stone is putting him in a lot of pain and discomfort and could also lead to a slow and painful death.
The doctor has found a minor infection from an abscess on his front leg which is being treated with antibiotics and going well.
Due to lack of care from previous owners and no health history we only have this weekend to decide.
The doctor is very confident that the surgery will be a success.
It is an expensive operation and will be worth every cent spent.
We need a minimum of R4000 to be able to get the surgery done for him.
Any donations and help will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for everyone's help and support on this hard and long journey.
