Let’s talk about resistance padding and why it’s an important aspect to early scent detection. Resistance padding creates a new and unusual surface to your puppies. This helps aid in desensitization and training that your puppies won’t always be on their fluffy blankets forever. There’s many surfaces to desensitize babies to! This product includes 2 different types of padding- Pad 1 is hard however flat. This slowely allows the puppies to learn that some surfaces have resistance and some are abnormal in their whelping pens. Pad 2 is softer yet has bumps that are upward and downward. This padding is for teaching that there is resistance and some oddity to floors. The biggest positive to resistance padding is it helps teach search drive. Having to walk on these surfaces to get to odor to get to mom will make it a positive experience!

Helpful hint- If you are feeding “mush” at say 6 weeks old you can have the puppies on the mat then put the food bowl down right on the mat which will help teach patience at odor!

Here’s Pho whose being imprinted on the box scent inside is Birch. She is very early in the learning stage but headed on the right track 😊 I put scent inside and outside on the box since she is still learning but will graduate up as she progresses!
