Doesn’t this sweet face just melt your heart? 🥰❤️

Board-Certified Surgeon, Dr. Jen Swiderski and Veterinary Technician Ana visited for a second TPLO procedure for this handsome boy, Gunner.

📚VetMed Fact: Similar to people, injuries to the ligaments within the knees are very common in dogs. However, approximately 60% of dogs will tear the ligament in the other knee after they suffer an injury to the first knee. Surgery helps stabilize the knee joint(s) and reduces the risk for ongoing pain or discomfort.

We are always grateful for the opportunity when patients come back to see us again. Gunner’s surgery went great and after recovery, he’ll really be in four-wheel drive now! 💜🐾🐶

Dr. Jennifer Swiderski, Board-Certified Surgeon, and Ana, Certified Veterinary Technician, were able to visit a few furry friends at Fox Run Veterinary Hospital today, not once but twice! 🐕🐕

First, to help Macy, a cute border collie mix who tore her cranial cruciate ligament. Later, we got to go back and help Juneau, a pretty husky, who had a colonic entrapment. Then, as a bonus, we got to meet Grizzly aka Puff, who is the baby of Ashley, the veterinary technician at Fox Run Vet. We’re always grateful when we have the chance to meet new furry friends.

Thank you to Fox Run Vet for allowing us the opportunity to help with the care of your patients! ❤️🐾🎉

Is there anything cuter than a dog in doggles? 😎

Check out sweet Daisy during her laser treatment at Monument Veterinary Clinic in Colorado Springs, performed by Board-Certified Surgeon, Dr. Jennifer Swiderski, and Veterinary Technician, Ana. 🐕

Laser treatments have a variety of benefits, including but not limited to reducing inflammation and pain. These benefits can help speed up the healing process, getting Daisy back on the road to recovery faster! 🥰

A huge thank you to Monument Vet for inviting us in! We are thankful for having the opportunity to participate in Daisy’s care. 🐾❤️

Dr. Swiderski and Ana recently visited Banfield Pet Hospital - Parker to do a TPLO procedure on Birdie.

🏥 VetMed Fact: Very similar to humans, dogs commonly suffer from injuries to the ligaments (Cranial Cruciate Ligament) and the cartilage (Meniscus) within the knee. Once these tissues are damaged, the knee becomes unstable and this leads to the development of swelling (effusion) within the joint. Overtime, arthritis will form, so not only will mobility be affected but the condition is painful.

We are grateful for having the opportunity to participate in Birdie’s care and are wishing her a speedy recovery! 🐾❤️🎉

Allow us to introduce this handsome man, Tommy! 🐶🥰

Tommy needed a TPLO procedure to help stabilize his knee joint. Dr. Swiderski and Ana met Miss Audrey at Pine Creek Veterinary Hospital where they addressed her BAOS (Brachycephalic Airway Obstructive Syndrome). BAOS is a common condition encountered in brachycephalic dog breeds.

What is a Brachycephalic breed? Think of those cute, yet smushy faced breeds like Audrey here, including but not limited to Bulldogs (French and English), Boxers, Boston Terriers, Pekingese, Pugs, Lhasa Apsos, Shih Tzus, and Bull Mastiffs. BAOS can include a combination of up to five anatomic abnormalities: 1) Stenotic (small) nares (or nostrils), 2) An elongated soft palate, 3) Everted saccules (found just next to the vocal cords) 4) Laryngeal collapse and 5) Hypoplastic trachea (narrowed windpipe).

Every patient is affected differently, but most commonly, the surgery to ensure a patient can breathe comfortably is performed to enlarge the nostrils and trim the soft palate. Just look at Audrey's before and after photos! As you can see, this procedure ensure that this cutie can breathe easier! 💜🐶🥰

Jen Swiderski, DVM, MS, DACVS-SA

Born into a military family in Agaña Heights, Guam, it was clear from a very early age that Jen would become a veterinarian; her favorite place to sleep was always curled up with her Grandma’s dog. She was just 13 years old when she landed her first job in the veterinary field as a kennel technician.

After earning her BS in biology in California, Jen moved to Colorado, worked as a surgical technician and earned her veterinary degree from Colorado State University Veterinary School in 2002. Dr. Swiderski’s time as a surgical tech instilled in her a desire to become a surgeon, so she returned to California for an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA West Los Angeles Animal Hospital in 2003.

Following her internship, Dr. Swiderski returned to Fort Collins, Colorado to be a surgery resident at Colorado State University. She completed a three-year residency in small animal surgery, also receiving an M.S. in Clinical Sciences. Dr. Swiderski achieved board-certification as a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2008.

Since earning her board certification, Dr. Swiderski has worked in veterinary referral hospitals in Southern California and Colorado. She joined the MOVES team in the Fall of 2019, where she serves Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas as a mobile Veterinary Surgeon, offering advanced orthopedic and soft tissue surgery services to general practice veterinarians. Some of her current research interests include oncologic surgery and minimally invasive surgery.
