My name is Gavin Hamilton I’m the current Chairperson of BABS. As most will know, I stay out of Boerboel politics as it does not serve the Boerboel breed in any way. Politics has only divided and brought the Boerboel into disrepute. We are only the custodians of the breed for a short time and politics within the breed in our time is destroying the once magnificent Boerboel breed.
The constant personal attacks and attacks on the various organisations has served no purpose. The constant disunity and lies told are only to try and uplift the individual as some kind of authority on the breed.
Using the Boerboel for financial gain and breeding to sell pups, has meant the dogs both domestically and internationally have fallen to become almost unrecognisable as Boerboels. As one senior international appraiser and judge observed he would disqualify half the dogs he saw promoted on one page.
The education of the plethora of breeders is deplorable. The committees who are supposedly leading these organisations are no more educated than the breeders they lead.
BABS has spent many hours mulling over this situation. BABS Australia has invited all the organisations domestically to participate in a United National Boerboel Show. However politics seems to be getting in the way. I feel personalities need to be put on hold and the focus must be the dogs.
If you are on the side of this organisation or that organisation and you are not on the side of the dogs, you have no place in the Boerboel World.
BABS is hosting an online seminar with Kobus Rust and Craig Bloom, both recognised as leading authorities in the world of breeding, in the Boerboel world and beyond.
Kobus has organised and written the breeding program for many animal groups. He is also one of the founders of the Boerboel breed.
I urge EVERYONE who has the Boerboel at heart to unite, at least in their education and understanding of the breed under the tutelage of these leaders.
While speaking with Kobus and Craig about the international state of the Boerboel.

“Before you try and improve the Boerboel breed, first you must breed correct Boerboels”

Boerboel Africa Breed Society is excited to announce that we will be hosting a series of educational webinars on the Boerboel. Initially, we are planning 10 webinar events. Each event will feature 2 breed experts as our guest speakers and topics will include various aspects of the Boerboel structure, its history, iconic and influential dogs, breeding better Boerboels and old-time breeders talking about their breeding experiences.
Our first chapter will cover the following topics:
Talk 1: "An introduction to the Boerboel" by Kobus Rust
Kobus will give a brief insight into the Boerboel and what makes it distinct as a pure-breed dog.
Talk 2: "The Boerboel Head" by Craig Bloom & Kobus Rust
Craig & Kobus will discuss the breed types that have contributed to the Boerboel head as well as what a correct Boerboel head should be according to the breed standard.
